American Pro Decor's MDF Screening Panels provide a versatile and attractive option of concealing air conditioning vents, radiators cabinets and any other decorative elements on Furniture such as cabinet doors and drawer fronts. Our MDF Screening Panels are also used on display fixtures, Ceiling Panels, Interior Walls and door inserts, room dividers. Our MDF decorative Screening Panels come in natural unfinished MDF. Panel must be primed before painting. All panels are 2 ft. H x 6 ft. W x 1/8 in. thick and can easily be cut to size to accommodate, decorate and fit any panel opening. The open areas provide the best option for air flow when needed.

What is the best type of paint & primer to use on this?

AnswerThanks for your inquiry. Panels are sold unfinished and may require sanding. Panels must be primed prior to painting. When painting the MDF screening panels, it is recommended to use a roller or spray paint. Using a paint brush is more difficult and tends to cause brush marks. You can use Oil based or Acrylic based primers. The paint is the same type. If you use an Oil based, primer, use an Oil based paint. If you use Acrylic based primer, use an Acrylic based paint.

We used this material to create ventilated doors for our home theater cabinet. Very easy to work with - strong, but thin enough to cut with scissors. Depending how finished of a look you want for your final product, plan to lightly sand the surface prior to painting as it's pretty rough.
