Q:I have a toilet model 4225A, which is leaking. Is it possible to replace the silicone seal by itself, or does one have to replace the entire assembly. It appears as though one has to take the tank off the seat to change the assembly, correct?

The tank seal probably works well, but I had to...
The tank seal probably works well, but I had to return it and buy from another source because the one from Home Depot doesn't include the wrench to remove the old one. Tried a strap wrench, but it was too "slippery," and we didn't have a large enough spanner/monkey wrench. Now that we have the wrench, if we ever have to change it yet again, I'd consider buying this from HD...

My flush stack failed in my wonderful American Standard Champion...
My flush stack failed in my wonderful American Standard Champion toilet after 19 years.
My husband found this replacement stack and I am overjoyed. This stack has a much nicer, smoother pull and is quiet compared to the old stack. I am so very pleased.

missing tool
tank seal replacement was to include a wrench to remove and re-install the tank seal but was not in the box with the replacement piece

Having to drain the tank to install the tank seal...
Having to drain the tank to install the tank seal was inconvenient, but doable. I wish there was a tool included to remove the old plastic tightener, as I think there used to be.
