does this faucet swivel?

Answers

Yes it does of course! Mine however makes a noticeable grinding noise when I swivel it back & forth, which I don't like.

Your installation instructions include the direction "unthread SPRAY FACE (3) from SPRAY (2)". How? Some aerators are easy to unscrew from the faucet, especially once you know how to do it, but I'm not sure how to perform this particular operation.

Asked by GaryB2839 March 29, 2017

Answer

I apologize for our error. These instructions are not correct. The aerator does not come off. If you are wanting to clean it you can put the head of the sprayer in a cup of white vinegar to remove any debris that may be caught in the screen.

Just installed an American Standard Colony Pro faucet (model #7074.100.002). The faucet appears well made with all parts mating/matching correctly and easily. Installation took about 40 minutes. The removal and cleanup of the old faucet took much longer. The instructions for the most part are clear with some exceptions. For example, the installation depiction installing the escutcheon is, I believe, incorrect. It shows the hose for the pull-out spray not passing through the washers and locknut on the underside of the sink. The depiction for mounting without the escutcheon is correct. Also, the recommended tools while they might work for some installs, they would not get the job done in others (mine being one). I would suggest having a 16 mm open end wrench and a 12" phillips P2 screw driver on hand in addition to what is recommended. (see photo of tools that made the removal & install much easier) The escutcheon has a plastic "putty plate" that fits between it and the mounting surface. The instructions describe applying putty to it. Some putty's, esp. "plumber's putty" are not recommended to be used on plastic. I used a small tube of silicone caulk, easy to apply and much less messier. And it helps in holding the escutcheon in place when securing the faucet. Other commenters have suggested installing the 3 screws in the locknut before threading it onto the threaded faucet shank, you really want to do this. In addition, I would recommend spinning the locknut onto the shank before install, just to make there are no thread mating issues. You don't want to fight a difficult thread start on your back under the sink. Before tightening the 3 screws underneath the sink, make sure the faucet is centered. I missed this step and had to loosen, center, and then re-tighten the 3 screws. I also pre-threaded the self-tapping screw into the weight before attaching it to the pull-out hose. Not much room under the sink and I didn't want to stab myself with the screw driver. Oh yea, and don't turn any water supply on until all connections have been made. The Schneid, Feb 2019.

very bright chrome finish , this unit can be installed with or without wide base . the unit is easy to install with the long braided water line. the detached sprayer head has a long reach and is dual spray. the single handle is firm and easy to control for water temp from hot to cold and hard to soft water flow ! the unit rotates right or lift firmly . when pulling the sprayer head out there plenty of reach and easy retracts thanks to the well designed counter weight system on the braided water line .

(What's this)
Finally we have a modern faucet in the kitchen. The Colony Pro, single handle w/pull out sprayer is a very nice addition to our new stainless steel sink. With the chrome finish it blends very well with this sink and our appliances. As a DIY'er, found this faucet very easy to install and a great value. It's very functional and nicely designed. The faucet handle has both stream mode and spray with a thumb flip, in a pull out design that easily reaches where needed. What I really like most with the weighted pull out handle, never gets stuck and returns to it's resting position flawlessly. Previously we had the typical faucet where the spray attachment sets to one side to another hole in the sink. The hose was always stiff until warm water passed through it. For whatever reason, when needed most, we found it had wrapped itself around the drain trap and couldn't be pulled out until you reached under the sink to free it. And then had to be manually shoved back down the hole. That will never happen with the Colony Pro series as the hose is a stainless braided design (durable) and the weight does a great job guiding it back to the normal position. The faucet handle (on/off) is color coded (red hot/ blue cold) and swings about 80 degree's total. This prevents it from accidentally being swung out over the back of the sink which could cause a catastrophe. Old standard faucets rarely had this feature and users might sometimes swing it out of the way, push it too far, forget to bring it back over the sink and someone else might come along and turn it on spraying water everywhere but the sink. With this design, one can simply pull the spray handle out and set it in the drain basket avoiding a problem. One thing with the 80 degree swing (to a DIY'er) needs to be sure when installing, to account for the swing before tightening it to it's permanent position. Make sure you have an even 40/40 over a double sink or properly centered to a single sink so you don't need to re-adjust it later. If DIY be sure to apply a good sealing compound to the base. I prefer plumbers putty in case I ever need to remove the assembly. But a good quality silicone can also be used. Keep in mind, silicone dries stiff and adheres tightly so if you need to remove the faucet for any reason, is much tougher to remove and clean up of the old silicone tedious. Silicone also needs considerable set up time before you can use the faucet or you risk creating a gap that can leak. Just one more thing about this particular model, the sprayer is plastic which is partly what makes it a good value (reduces cost). Models are available with a chrome plated aluminum spray handle but raise the cost considerably. But considering varying water quality's either can be susceptible to mineral clogging. I find the plastic sprayers easier to DE-calcify but also far less expensive to replace if necessary. Best of all, my wife loves it.

(What's this)
I really like the faucet! It really turns very easily and smoothly. Much better than my old one. Under my sink I have a complicated mess of plumbing structures. So the fact that the weight is fixed to one part of the hose is nice. It allowed me to move the weight higher up the hose. This reduced the length of the pull-out but it also eliminates the hose from catching on the other structures under the sink. This additional feature was really nice and unexpected. My last pull out faucet had a weight that slid on the hose so it always stayed at the bottom and it continually got caught on the other plumbing structures there. When you do the install, make sure that you pre-install the screws in the brass washer with the three screw holes in it... Don't put them in all the way, but screw them in a few rotations so when it's installed and you are ready to tighten it down you don't have to fight the cramped space to try and get the screws started. Also, the last thing you do before turning on the water is install the weight. You need to get the hoses through the hole and washer first. The only other thing to watch for is to make sure you get the washers in the right order that go in underneath. Rubber washer, hard white washer then brass washer with bolt holes. Great faucet and easy install.

Review for Colony Pro Single-Handle Pull-Out Sprayer Kitchen Faucet in Polished Chrome Our kitchen sink was falling apart. and it had started chipping metal. A piece of it even got stuck in somebody's finger, and she almost had to go to the ER--that was the last straw, so I ordered this faucet to try and replace the old one. I did it myself, even though I'd never done that before. The whole process went very well. INSTALLATION Including removal of the old sink, it took me about 40 minutes. Seeing as it was my first time installing a faucet, I think that is pretty reasonable PROS/FEATURES *Shiny chrome finish *Easy installation *Durable feel *Attractive *Well built *Everything needed for installation minus tools is included *It works the way it should 5 out of 5 stars in highly recommend this product

(What's this)
Initial viewing: Upon opening the box and laying it out on the table, I was impressed by the overall appearance of the shiny chrome, no nicks or irregularities in the finish. All of the parts were neat and cleanly manufactured, no burrs or seams are present. All of the parts are in either sealed plain plastic bags, or wrapped in tissue paper. Inspection: All of the flexible hose lines are well reinforced, and the location where the counter weight is to be attached is clearly labeled. The escutcheon (base) plate has an easy snap on plastic putty plate. The chrome plated parts are all sturdy, and the sprayer fits into the base, with a notch on the underside making it easy to place the faucet head back on the base. Initial Assembly and Testing: For testing I attached the unit to a board and secured that to the washroom sink, and using a couple of flexible hose extensions attached the unit to the washing machine outlets (see pictures). I had no problem attaching the unit to my test counter, but, if I had to reach up between a sink and wall it could get a little tight. I would recommend starting the screws in the lock nut before screwing it on to the shank. And you are going to need those screws to pull the base down on the counter. One more thing to note about tightening down, the faucet has stops built in to avoid it turning behind the sink, make sure the turning radius evenly aligned with the center of the sink before tightening the locknut. The control valve worked perfectly, easily turning the water off and no, and adjusting the temperature. Based upon the performance I had with the flow, there wasn’t any need to remove the flow restrictor from the joint in the sprayer hose. I didn’t test the hot limit safety adjustment, but based on the instructions, removing the handle and setting the limits appears to direct and simple. Summary: With the exception attaching the locknut between a wall and sink, the unit is quick and easy to install. The faucet head produces a nice firm flow of water and the flow switch works like a charm, switching from spray to flow. The length of the hose makes it easy to fill large pots on top of the counter and wash the sink. This is an excellent, functional kitchen faucet.

Pretty sweet faucet. I think the overall look of it is pretty simple/plain however that's what I was looking for. Installation was really simple so no surprises there. The two things that I liked the most about this was the ease of movement and the pull out sprayer. Side to side, the ease in which the faucet moves is really simple and smooth. There's no jarring or sticky movement of the faucet and it spins effortlessly. The pull out sprayer is really nice. I've had a few other faucets where the pull out sprayers didn't work well or would constantly get jammed and not retract properly. This one however, works perfectly. It's easy to pull out and the weight on the faucet hose adds just enough tension to retract the faucet every time. Really can't say how simple but pleasing this is to have. One thing that was tricky during the installation was tightening down the faucet screw. It was pretty tough getting it secured tight enough without the faucet wobbling. There wasn't a real easy way to screw it tightly so just something to consider when installing the faucet.

The Colony Pro kitchen faucet is from American Standard, a reliable source. is ready to make your day-to-day life easier in the kitchen. Featuring an elegant design the faucet is an easy choice to update your kitchen. This faucet is easy to install, with a water-saving flow rate of 1.5 gallons per minute. and includes a great feature of a hot limit safety stop that helps to prevent accidental scalding (hot limit safety stop is adjustable). The color-coded stainless steel supply hoses are a nice touch along with the 24" reach, weighted, braided supply hose for ease of return to it's 'parked' position. Faucet remembers whether you previously used it in spray or stream and uses the previous setting when turning the water flow back on again.

This kitchen faucet is beautiful as well as functioning. It was easy to install and makes life a little easier. The hand sprayer has a rocker type controller on the handle that lets you switch from spray to stream very easy. What I liked the most is that it has a braided hose on the hand sprayer that will pull out at least 3 feet to allow you to get all portions of your sink area. In addition, the hose has a weight mounted under the sink that helps the hose to go back to position and not kink up. All in all it is a lovely faucet.
