Had to get a specific one based on the manufacturer...
Had to get a specific one based on the manufacturer and the brand. The generic flapper created a problem of "ghost flushing". This flapper helped in eliminating this issue.

I had to use parts of the old flapper assembly in order for this to work. This is the right product number for the toilet model I have. (I watched a U-tube video to see how to remove and replace the flapper assembly.) I installed the new toilet flapper as directed but the portion of the flapper that is suppose to snap into place to attach it was so tight that the rubber flapper remained raised and did not close at all. I was afraid to try spreading the notches apart as that piece is hard plastic and could break. Also the chain on the replacement was not as well made as the original. I solved the problems by using the original chain and hook. I found that the rubber portion of the flapper can be easily separated from the hard plastic part so I used the original plastic attaching piece and "snapped" the new rubber flapper onto the old part. Then I installed this and the whole assembly worked as it should and does not leak. Luckily the problem with the old flapper was just that the rubber portion had become misshapen and no longer provider a tight seal. I did notice that the new rubber flapper was designed just a little differently and should not get misshapen as the old one did.

Bad top design
The chain catches on the top assembly leaving flapper open. This runs up the water bill when you leave the bathroom only to find the toilet still running hours later.
