Toilet upgrade
I bought this toilet to update a bathroom. The installation process was pretty simple and the directions were straightforward. Even though it came with a wax ring, I opted to use a rubber toilet seal instead of the wax ring. I'm very satisfied with this toilet and will definitely be ordering more.

    Good Flushing!
I first saw this toilet in action at a friend's home and was very impressed. The bowl action was very strong, and it wiped the bowl clean with one flush. It wasn't 2 months later that one of my toilets malfunctioned (actually broke and leaked!), so that was my chance to replace it with this baby. Sometimes I just flush it to watch it in action.

    Purchased the Optum Vormax
Installed the toilet yesterday. The toilet was packed well, easy to get out of the box. I took my time to install it, however it doesn't take too long at all. This can be a one person job. I also bought the fluidmaster waxless gasket so if I need to, I can remove the toilet for floor replacement later. Overall happy with the toilet, no leaks at all, though time will tell how it holds up. I usually recheck the bolts after a week and slightly tighten if needed. A bit overpriced.

      Great Toilet BUT......
This is a great toilet. Flushes clean as expected but certainly surprised me when my wife gave her stamp of approval on the flush!!! Had power flush before but it was too noisy. I have installed ACA toilets for over 20 years. Install went very well but pay attention here....Two issues. First, don't use the wax seal they give you. 90% of toilet leaks are due to bad wax seals or part of the seal goes down the drain when setting the toilet causing poor flushes. I strongly recommend the use of SaniSeal (the waxless toilet gasket). I never had one fail and it moves with the toilet as needed. It can't fall down the "hole". Sit on the toilet to compress the seal and tighten the nuts slowly allowing about a minute between tightenings. Eventually, the toilet will meet the floor. If your floor is level (always check), good. If not, use plastic toilet shims at the front of the toilet to level it out. Second, watch out for the toilet seat. Under the lid are two rectangular styrofoam spacers. Remove them BEFORE installing the seat or they can come loose and be flushed down the "hole" and clog your soil pipe. Yes, that happened to me but the SaniSeal is reusable so I didn't get too upset!

Manufacturing defect - Poor quality control
2 failed toilets. Water coming from under the front of the bowl not near the wax ring. Used food coloring in bowl to find leak. The leak in the area where the jet of water from the tank is forcing water down the drain to create the siphon.

Check carefully - Quality control is abysmal!!
I fully installed a VorMax before realizing the glazing had a defect in the bottom of the bowl. The 1st replacement had a defect near the TOP of the bowl (photo). The 2nd replacement came w/out mounting screws. Wife loves look & functionality. We'll see.

Well....I purchased 3 of these toilets. I like the way they flush. There are 2 discharge holes from the tank into the bowl so twice as much water enters the bowl in a shorter time. This combined with vortex swirling really cleans the bowl and takes everything right out with alot of momentum. The downside is that one of the toilets had a leak in the porcelain under the bowl! After i replaced the wax ring 2 times i finally realized it was the toilet that had the defect. Home Depot gave me a new toilet, after my 3 days of troubleshooting. All 3 are working fine now.

            Not Worth The Money
I purchased this toilet based off the great reviews. To my surprise it has been nothing but a headache and money lost. The toilet is less than a year old and constantly runs every 15-18 minutes. The toilet also does not flush all the way, it fills to the very top and doesn't flush the waste. My water bill has sky rocked . I've had two different plumbers come out and try and fix the toilet and both said to replace the guts in the toilet or get a new toilet. I've spent more money on service calls to have it fixed than the actual toilet cost. I've also called the warranty/ 1-800-442-1902 number to have someone help me with this issue and I was on hold for over an hour and 20 minutes. I ended up hanging up and stopped waiting. I also emailed American Standard and have not heard back from anyone. This is all just frustrating. I would do your research on the manufactures warranty, and customer service reviews before purchasing.

After weeks of research and hours of YouTube videos, I chose the American Standard Optum Vormax over the Toto Drake and anything by Kohler. The Vormax does the job just as advertised- it’s a quick flush with less water and the entire bowl is swished. The Vormax has a larger water surface which I think is better than the Toto and others. This toilet is taller for easy on/off. My only negative is that that the seat ring is a bit uncomfortable. Other than that, I’m glad I purchased this one.

              Vormax Optimum
I ordered this toilet after spending days on lline reading reviews. So far - day two - I'm very happy with the height, flushing power and the style. I have to agree with the comments about the toilet seat. I didn't like it much...the lid is really nice but the seat is super thin. Maybe there is a reason? Overall height or something? Anyway, I ordered and replaced the seat with a new one that I like much better. Regardless, I would purchase the toilet and if you don't like the seat, the one I got was $25. Other than the original seat, I think this little john is very nice!
