Hello Theblackboa, The pipe coming out of the wall needs to be approximately 1.5". Thanks for shopping with the Home Depot.

Can you buy parts for this diverter? We need the diverter valve.

Steve, Thank you for the question on the American Standard Slip-on diverter tub spout. The diverter is not a repairable part so the entire tub spout would need to be replaced. Contact American Standard directly for assistance. Your American Standard Consumer Connection Team.

I have a M950272-YYY0A diverter spout currently in my tub.  I didn't install it, but it is now leaking and I have no idea how to remove it.  I don't see a setscrew and Its suppose to be a slip on type.  is there any instructions on this site?

Asked by Frednotaplumber March 10, 2016

Answer

If this is the tub spout you have it would have a set screw securing it to the wall. If you dont have a set screw then you have an IPS spout which would just unthread from the pipe in the wall.

I have a Hampton two handle Bath/Shower set. The diverter leaks. I have forgotten how I put the spout on. I can't see any set screws in the slot next to the wall. There is one small hole near the end of the spout, could a clamp screw be in there?

Asked by Mark79556 February 18, 2016

Answer

If you do not see any hole in the bottom of the spout you would have an IPS spout that just threads on. If there is a hole there will be a set screw further up into the hole.

No set screw.  It's a twist off.  The mineral buildup is inside, in the middle of the spout where it connects to the pipe. Can't get vinegar there. Will forcing it too much break something that will cause a leak in the wall.  What else can I do?

Asked by Annie2874 December 4, 2015

Answer

Even if you would pour vinegar around it then it may seep in there. Or maybe spray it with WD40. I wouldn't force it if possible.

My spout is stuck on and will not twist at all. How can I get it to budge? I believe the mineral deposits have calcified it. What should I do?

Answer

Some spouts have a set screw holding them on, check under the spout for a hole where a set screw may be. You can use white vinegar to help dessolve mineral build up.

Hello, I have been researching tub spout diverter leakages (water that flows from the tub spout when the diverter is engaged for showering), and have found that all new diverters leak some amount of water by design.  Why is this?

Asked by Phillip Miller July 31, 2015

Answer

I have not heard of this. I know my tub diverter does not leak. To the best of my knowledge they are not supposed to at all.

Reliable, works in a pinch!
Customer review from americanstandard-us.com logo
I have a rental unit where I decided to spend a bit more on a tub spout from a different well-known company, and it failed only after a month. Luckily, I had one of these handy and had my plumber install the unit. He told me that these types of diverter tub spouts are incredibly reliable and their preferred units for installation. Would definitely recommend these for a super reliable spout!

I bought this to replace a Moen slip on tub diverter... this product worked perfectly as a replacement. I had no problems installing it and no issues with functionality. Note that this is a full metal spout and it sprays a little wider than a Moen diverter, but other than that there is little difference between the two. So if you want to save some money, get this product instead of the Moen diverter.

I have about 2" copper pipe coming out of the wall for the bath tub spout. This spout just slips on to that pipe with an o-ring. But it didn't work as water leaked through as if the o-ring seal wasn't tight. Luckily I also bought a Delta brand spout which worked.
