Questions & Answers

How do you couple a 2" x 3" aluminum downspout?
ByJul 8, 2026
1 Answer |
Answer This Question

Our aluminum downspouts have two distinct ends. One end has a crimped end that is slightly smaller profile than the downspout itself. The other end does not have this crimp and it is identical in profile to the gutter. The crimped end slides into the non crimped end. You can then secure the connection with rivets or sheet metal screws.

Can this downspout also be used horizontally? Like laying flat against the ground, to route the water as far away from the home's foundation as possible? Or if that is a different type of pipe segment I've described, what is the name of that product?

    Answer This Question

This product is not recommend for horizontal application. We would recommend a Flex Drain Downspout Adapter (model#ADP53102) and our solid Flex-Drain pipe (model#52110D).

I need this 2x3 downspout in Pebblestone Clay -- will it be manufactured anytime soon?
            ByAug 18, 2024
            1 Answer |
            Answer This Question

This specific product is a 2" x 3" white aluminum downspout. I couldn't find information about a "Pebblestone Clay" option for this particular downspout. If you're looking for a different color or material, you might consider browsing other downspouts available at the Home Depot website or checking with a store associate for more options.

Does this downspout really drain 186gpm? I cannot find that spc on Amerimax's site and it seems to be 2-3 times what standard gutter design guides suggest - so according to Home Depot's numbers this downspout would work, but according to other guides it

Why does the p/n on the Home Depot page say 2401019120, but the p/n in the Amerimax catalog says 24019015?

                1 Answer |
                Answer This Question

The model number on Home Depot's website reflects what color is selected. Model # 2401019120 is for 2" x 3" Brown Downspout. Model # 24019015 is for 2" x 3" Royal Brown Downspout.

                  One step above garbage
One step above garbage. If you’re not extremely careful when cutting, the seam pops. Pay attention to how many have popped seams at the store. If they can’t survive being transported to the store and shelved, what are the odds they’ll survive being worked on?

Refund sought; Bad Batch. Policy fail.
The seams on this product are defective. The are not mechanically compressed correctly at the factory. They popped when cutting and installing. I noticed them sperated on the shelves also. I tried Home Depot and the other big box store and it was the same defective seams. I requested a refund from Home Depot and they refused since the product was modified. I told them it was defective and they would not accept that. So I am going to escalate this. I spend way too much money at Home Depot to be treated like I am a return fraud clown. I will contact coperate, then the company itself and seek a refund. If all fails I will do a charge back and contact the AG in Massachusetts and/or go small claims court.

Very poor quality. Seams WILL separate if you don't plan ahead.
First off, if you are set on using these downspouts here is what you need to know. They are thin and flimsy. The seams will separate when you cut them. I don't see any way around it, so you must prepare for it. It will simply take twice as long as it should to do the job, but if you have more time than money, it can be done. Get some 3/8" sheet metal screws and screw the joints together at both ends and about 1" on each side of where you are going to make a cut. You have been warned. If you don't do this, you might as well plan to throw the whole piece away because the seams will not go back together. I tried cutting with a oscillating tool with a metal blade and with a hacksaw. No luck, both just popped the seams apart. My best luck was by hand with a pair of aviation snips, but still had to screw the seam together on both sides of the cut to keep them from separating. I'm not sure how these are rated as high as they are. Maybe if you never had to cut them, but I don't see that being very common. Can't speak to how long the paint will last or how they will stand up to hail because I just installed them, but they look OK for now.

                        Seems separate too easily
The seams on these downspouts are horrible. The slightest squeeze while installing or trimming causes them to separate. I should have known when it took me 10 minutes to pick through them at the store to find 3 that were still intact. One fell apart on me, and I returned the other two. DO NOT BUY!
