Use On A Patio Cover Gutter
I had to figure away to use this gutter on my alum patio cover. First I had to add some expansion wire strips to each patio alum channel. Then add the gutter cover and fastened with a black tie-wraps to be sure in high winds it would not lift up. The pictures tell the story and these gutters were the perfect solution.

I have a roof with shingles that points downwards into my gutters making regular gutter guards impossible to install without removing part of my roof shingles these guards did a wonderful job by curving around my roof shingles highly recommend to anybody that has the same issues as me

Great for Metal Roofing and Gutters. I've used this product on about 600 linear feet on my home and various outbuildings over the last 15 years. It's taken some time to understand how to use it properly. I've used it on both asphalt and metal roofs. With my prior asphalt roof, I installed the product in the classic way, using the clips to hook to the gutter. These worked reasonably well but the asphalt would filter through to the the gutter and various debris would build up at the intersection of the asphalt roof and the the edge of the gutter guard and would need to be cleaned about 1x a year ; the pollen nodes here in GA were particularly troublesome. I'd give the product a 3.5 for use with Asphalt roofing. I now have a new metal roof and I'm finding these gutter guards are particularly superior for use with them due to being able to customize the guard via bending them into various shapes; you also don't get all the fine asphalt washing down into the gutters as the roof ages. My metal roof overhangs into my gutters but the overhang amount varies differently by roof section dependent on roof pitch and how the roofers installed each particular section. What i have found with the metal roofing is that i can not install the guards the same way that i did with asphalt roofing. What has worked well for me is to immerse the guard completely in the gutter below the roof line. If there is enough space/width, sometimes i can set the guard in as is with its standard curve; though i have to press the front edge of the guard to flex it back so it will snap down into the gutter. Most often though I may only have 3-4 inches of space between the gutter and the metal roof line; in that case I bend the back edge (with the clips) to 45-70 degree angle up 1-2" from the rear of the screen (see pic). This helps flatten the curve of the screen so it can squeeze into the gutter AND it helps to hold the guard up inside the gutter at the rear edge. Next, I use some thin/fine filament wire to wire all adjacent pieces together so they don't blow out (highly recommend for asphalt roofs as well) after i have the sections installed. I give these guards a 4+ rating for use with metal roofing (with the caveat that there is likely easy customization to the guards; they are very easy to bend and manipulate but do use gloves so you don't get cut).

Have had these on back of house (wooded area) for 5 years. I check the gutters once per year, and find very little debris in the gutter. Usually a small clump by the downspout. This winter here in Mass. we had 3 Nor' Easters in 3 weeks. For the first time, I had debris in the front gutters that were blocking the downspout. Water was spilling over. Time to do the front. Have recommended these to neighbors.

Long term update... Installed 144 feet of this product on a two story house about 12 years ago. At the time, product was marketed as stainless steel and will not rust. Not true - the mesh material was probably a 409 grade of stainless steel, which will rust over time. The clips are a true stainless steel (non-magnetic, maybe 304 grade) and still look new to this day if you can get them to remain attached to the gutter. Now the product is marketed as galvanized, but it still rusts according to other reviews. Rusting problem- The mesh began to rust by year three. I replaced some pieces as they began to rust, but that became an exercise in futility. The rust has discolored the white gutters to the extent that the gutters have to be refinished or replaced. Debris collects where mesh meets roofing shingles- Small twigs, pine needles and evergreen needles (blue spruce) collect and build up requiring a cleaning in the Spring and Fall when the trees are shedding needles. As others noted, the debris keeps those shingles from drying out and shortens the life of the shingle. Small needles and debris pass thru mesh and clog gutter- Blue spruce needles and the like do pass thru this mesh and collect in the gutter resulting in the need for an annual gutter cleaning. So why use this product? I choose this product because I thought I was getting a one and done scenario. That is, install it once and be done with it expecting the product to last as long as the roof. When the roof is replaced in 25 years or so, replace the gutter guards and maybe replace the gutters as well (or at least refinish them). Gutter guards should not be something you have to purchase and install every few years. Don't waste your time or money on this product.

Ok the snap on hooks don't work on my gutters. I actually bent the guard underneath the shingles and folded it in the gutter. Holds like a charm and the wind will NOT blow it out. The guard is flexible and fits perfectly. No hooks, no screws and not snap on locks.

                                The best gutter guard
I have had Amerimax 85280 Hinged Gutter Guards on my roof for 8 years. I had to re-attach them recently after putting on a new roof. The gutters are aluminum with too thick of an edge to clip the guards on. My previous roof had thin enough shingles that I just clipped the guards on the shingles. They had a tendency to blow up in a very high wind since the hinge was away from the wind, but otherwise were the best gutter guards I have seen. The new shingles were too thick to hold the guard clips; browsing the internet didn’t reveal any guard products that came close to the Amerimax – no matter how good the guard, something able to clog the gutter drain will eventually get in. The beauty of the Amerimax is that they flip up out of the way for easy cleaning (besides keeping most of the debris out in the first place). After thinking it over, I decided keep my Amerimax guards and drill a hole in each hinge and screw the hinge to the gutter. I used an 11/64 cobalt drill bit (cobalt is necessary) to drill the hole and a set of needle nose pliers to hold the hinge. It took less than an hour to drill the hinges on 35 guards. I used a pistol grip electric screw driver and 6 x ½ metal screws to attach the guards. I used a Sharpee marker to mark where to drill, moved the hinge aside, drilled the screw in with the screw driver, then backed the screw out, put the hinge in place, and screwed the hinge down. See the attached photos. With the hinged side on the leading edge of the gutter, the blow up issue seems to be gone. I am pleased to have the guards back in place.

                                  easy and effective
Installed 150 feet of this product about 2 months ago, observed it during light and heavy rains. It works fine except where the high-roof downspout adds to the low-roof runoff; there I added a sheet metal diverter (see photos). Installation was easy. No need to flatten them (the curve prevents them from curling), but I did install them under the shingles. Overlapped them about 1/2 inch but probably didn't need to. Finished in about 6 hours work, mostly on 28-ft ladder. Wonder how they work in snow and ice?
