Ames Fan
Okay, as it turns out, I almost exclusively use Ames tools in my yard. The exception has been some of my smaller hand tools. Not sure why I haven’t tried Ames for the smaller hand tools, but it turns out these Gel Grip Hand Tools tools have some nice features. Firstly, they’re made from stainless steel. When I’ve finish working, I am terrible about cleaning off my garden tools. Stainless steel construction is a very good thing. You could say the same about the Soft Gel Grip handles. Easy to clean up, even if you tend to neglect cleaning off your tools. Lastly, these tools are relatively sturdier than some other brands. The steel is thicker but not too heavy to use. I do primarily use my smaller hand gardening tools for container gardening. One of the main uses is transplanting, but I haven’t had an opportunity to try the transplanter tool. In hindsight, I like these tools and I noticed that Ames has a 6-piece set of this that may also be a great fit for me. Bottom line. I have used Ames tools for many years and I’ve always been highly satisfied with all of them.

Great tools
A nice, sturdy set of tools. The wooden handles are easy to grip. I love the different sizes of the trowels. The narrow one makes it easier to get into small pots or smaller holes. The larger trowel is good for working in the garden. The hand cultivator is great for weeding and mixing soil. Great tool set for a beginner or an experienced gardener. Would make a nice gift.

This garden tool set should last for a long time
The features that standout are the Stainless-Steel blades of the shovels, the cultivator claw, and the very comfortable cushioned handles. The stainless steel is thick and you won’t have to worry about bending the shovel blades. The claw material is thick and the weld seems very secure so it will be resistant to breaking. I have older gardening tools that have rusted where the chrome plating was scraped off. I am confident that rusting won’t be a problem with these tools. The stainless steel is easy to clean, and the handles have holes at the ends for hanging your tools. The handles have an ergonomic design with a cushioned grip without being overly soft. I found the handles were comfortable with or without work gloves. The handles are a big improvement when compared to hard plastic or wooden handles. The handles seem securely attached to the tools. Overall, this is a very nice set of gardening tools that are well made.

Cushioned grips and stainless heads make this a good set of garden tools
This is my second set of Ames garden tools with cushioned grips. I bought an Ames trowel and cultivator a couple of years ago. The cultivator is still in good shape but the soft grip on the trowel tore (digging sometimes requires a lot of force applied to the handle) and it wasn’t repairable. The handles on this set seem more robust. The trowel and transplanter came unsharpened. I usually sharpen my garden tools with a file to make digging easier. The tools were made in China.

Tools for the Serious Gardner .
I put these tools to work the day i got them . i was in process of planting clover in my front yard and needed to cover the seed with a layer of dried peat moss. the tiller broke the moss up from its compressed state and the shovel was used to scoop it into the bucket and then to spread it around on the seed to cover the seeds up and birds away The 3rd is a transplanter that is ideal for digging to a precise depth for bulbs etc.It is one of the few that comes with a 15 year warranty on the tool . So a good investment

Handy Well Built Set for Every Gardener
Somehow I go through a lot of these little sets. Living only a few miles from salt water hasn’t helped survival rates and either has rock and clay under ground. The ergonomics of all three of these tools is very comfortable. The metal finish is also good and cleaned easy in a bucket of water. The tips are sharp enough to cut roots and grass easily helping to shorten job time. Overall worth the choice.

Large Grip Handles
I really like this gardening set, mostly because of the size of the handles. Sometimes after even a short time of gardening my hand will cramp up. For me, these were easier to grip and feel quite substantial. Where the tool is attached to the handle seems very secure. They have a good size hole in the top allowing for easy storage - hanging them on a wall, on a gardeners rack, or in a cupboard.

Nice Set of Gardening Tools
This is a very nice set of gardening tools. The grips are soft gel, which is better than the older wooden or hard plastic grips. The transplanter has marks on it to show how deep you are digging, which is very handy. Each has holes in the handles for easy hanging storage when not using, although you could just put them in a bucket as well. The price seems reasonable as well for the quality of the tools.

Very sturdy and well made tools
The Ames three-piece garden tool set (#24450009) contains a hand trowel, hand transplanter, and hand cultivator with Ergo gel grip handles. Unfortunately, I received only two pcs., the hand trowel and a soil scoop that is set 24452009 so a completely different set. While not getting what was ordered, the tools I did receive are a good product. The trowel scoop is made from 1/16” thick stainless-steel material attached to the Ergo handle. The ergo handle is made with a thumb rest and finger grooves for good hand control and has gel inserts for the palm of your hand, right or left does not matter. The tool is 13” overall length (OAL) and has a large ½” diameter through hole in the end for ease of hanging. The soil scoop is slightly thinner material at 1/32” thick and stamped stainless steel. The scoop has the same Ergo handle, is the same OAL as the trowel, and feels very good in the hand. I tried the trowel out and you can get some good leverage out of it. Feels very sturdy and comfortable in the hand. The soil scoop I tested with some new plant soil, and it will carry quite a bit, very pleased. I found the tools I received of good quality with no flaws and no complaints about their function. The tools I received were made in China. Recommended.

Top Notch Hand Tools for Gardening
Thick stainless steel tools with grippy gel handles are built to last a long, long time. In my brief experience with this set I can honestly say they are a pleasure to use. I have not seen this thickness of steel on anything other than Ames gardening tools. The transplanter has depth markings stamped into the blade in both centimeters and inches to a depth of 10 cm and four inches. All the welds are neatly done and look just as strong as the rest of the tool. A fifteen year warranty is also included.
