Material is too thin and scoop cracks
I bought the scoop to turn my decomposed soil in a bucket. It develops multiple cracks where the handle welded to the scoop in less than a month of very light use. I returned this one and bought the hand trowel from the same brand. It is MUCH thicker. I would not recommend this product. Get ice scoops from restaurant/kitchen supplier.

Tired of that little garden shovel, that you have to use like a tablespoonoon. Well no more with the soil scoop by Ames. The soil scoop is a larger sized scoop for moving that extra amount of soil. It is made of stainless steel, with a gel grip for comfort. This garden scoop comes with a fifteen year warranty. I have used the scoop recently to plant two large Lilly plants and it certainly made the job much easier.

Gel in handle turns sticky after a year
The gel in the handle degrades into a terrible sticky mess after a year. Do not buy this.

Originally I purchased a set with wooden handles but returned them because they were too heavy & bulky. So I then went to my next choice & purchased this set. They are perfect: lightweight, easy grip handles take away the bulkiness & allow you the comfort to do your work in the garden. Great size also which provides the right amount of tool for all types of pots & plants. Would recommend especially if you have small hands.

      Handle Breaks far to easily
Used for scooping up dirt, not digging. Accidentally caught a larger clump that was not loose enough and snap, handle broke right off. Only use for very loose soil.
