have you gone to your local HD to inquire? I would imagine a receipt would be helpful. have you gone to the website of the tool maker to see if there is pathway to warranty claim?

It is essentially the same thing. Run it under soft soil or ground cover to cut off unwanted vegetation as it sprouts. It takes minimal effort of the soil is soft and the sprouts are small.

why don't Canadian Home Depots carry this?

I am not sure, you may want to contact the main manufacturer of home depot and let them know how you feel and they may do exactly what you want and say. You can contact them through facebook or instagram and make sure it is the real company and just let them know what you would like to see.

All stores near me have it in stock for pick up or delivery. On-line should tell you if it's in stock and where. It may depend on where you are and what store you are dealing with. Call or email the store for advice.

How do you sharpen this type of hoe?

I haven't yet, but thought about it when I purchased the scuffle hoe. My thought was a common metal file should sharpen it up easily.

Does this hoe come with a pointed blade?

Asked by Maureen July 3, 2019

No pointed blade at all, its more of like a flat steel band loop at the end of the stick. Works fantastic to remove weeds by going slightly under the weed to cut it at the roots by push, pull action. It is a bit loose and that is on purpose to give you that stirrup, hula, action hoe action.

I need to weed a heavily graveled flower bed. will This be effective?

If it's pea gravel, then it would do great. (That's what I have) Don't think it would do well if the gravel was bigger, though.

What kind of wood is the handle made from? Hickory, Ash, other?

Asked by Tony March 9, 2019

Answers

Don't really know the type of wood, but it has been very durable, feels solid, good diameter and is not flimsy and doesn't flex and it comes with a protective coating already on it. Really made well and works great.

What is the diameter or thickness of the wood handle? Thanks.

Asked by vikramp August 13, 2018

The handle is 5" in diameter at the end which is covered with a rubber grip. The rest of the handle tapers slightly to a 4 and 1/2 " diameter.

How hard is it to sharpen the blade?

Asked by SK July 4, 2018

Answers

Not necessary to sharpen the blade at all. It works straight out of the store and is sharp enough to undercut the weed roots easily, and as you use it push pulling it back and forth in the ground, it maintains a decent sharp edge by itself.

Weeded over an acre of landscaped property with numerous flower beds and a landscape island in the yard in less than a day. Without this tool, the weeds and grass were getting out of control, even with landscaping cloth in place. With this tool, all looks as it should.

I live near Houston, Texas. This tool does not work for the average “weed the flower bed” task unless you 1)have loose or sandy soild 2)have strong arms 3)have no mulch or pebbles in your soil. I bought this to help weed my flower beds after a cold winter that has only allowed weeds to flourish. This tool helped me clear little to nothing. The “blade” is not really a blade…it is not sharp and will not be able to cut into soil that has been settling for several months (please see photo of blade of took after using it once). I am an average sized female and I stay very active. After working with this tool for only about 20 minutes and giving up, I woke the next morning with a pulled tendon around my elbow joint from trying to get this gadget to work. Also, it would work terrible if I tried it in our natural clay soil. This tool is probably good for a landscaping crew, but not for a home gardener-at least not in my experience.

I had an old, old one and it finally broke. This implement is the perfect tool to use to weed flower gardens. It works like a charm. Plus, the handle is easy on the hands as it is cushioned a bit. I promise, you will wonder how you lived without it after you see how wonderful it is!

Amazing!
My yard is bare sand with a few trees and ornamentals. After being away for 2 months, I had a yard of weeds/grass. Pulling it by hand takes forever and killing it with poison just leaves dead growth that still needs to be removed. A friend found a video of an 'action hoe' and sent it to me. It looked promising so I searched local home improvement stores to see if they carried it. I found it at Home Depot for a good price so bought it online, picked it up in store, and put it to use a few days later. That little hoe (also called a scuffle hoe) helped me clear my yard of growth in half the time or less that it's taken me in the past to pull everything up by hand (51 yr old female). Before/after photos included. Even if the hoe had broken at the end of the project, I'd have still loved it. I bought it for less than $16 and sure couldn't pay anyone to clear my yard for that. The hoe is super easy to use. It took more effort at times to rake up the growth I'd "scuffled", because I had to roll it a few times with the rake to release the soil from the roots. I couldn't be more pleased with the hoe whether it's to clear a large area or to target individual weeds that pop up. Two green-thumbs up from this Florida gal!
