Excellent Tools!
These are awesome tools! I never thought I would be excited about gardening tools, but I am about these ones. Its really impressive seeing the quality that was put into these tools. The stainless steel is great quality, the welds are great quality, and the handles are great quality. These tools feel great in your hand thanks to the great handle, and their design is excellent; they work just like they should. This set comes with every piece of gardening tools you will need for digging, weeding, raking, etc. I use these for working on sprinklers too. I am super happy with these tools.

Superior tool set with soft gel grip handles
We already had a preference for the Ames brand of weeder, because the handle is much more comfortable than a weeder with a hard handle. No more blistered palms. So we expected to enjoy using this Ames tool set, and we love it. We were especially happy to find that the soil scoop makes quick work of big projects. We have creek beds lined with landscaping fabric and river rocks, which carry rainwater away from our house, and these tend to collect dirt in places. Every now and then, we have to take the rocks out of them and scoop the dirt out, rinse the rocks, and put the rocks back. Using the soil scoop made this a much easier job. The small hand rake is also an excellent addition to our garden tool collection, as it enables us to get underneath shrubs and clear leaves out quickly. Ames is an excellent brand and this is a great set of tools.

Good quality set.
I use this set for various odd jobs around the yard - mostly repairing damage from my dogs. The shovels and cultivator are good and strong and hold up well in the "rock" that Southern Utah calls dirt. The transplanter shovel has measurements for doing precise digging for planting. I found the rake to be really good for raking dirt, especially out of grass after my dogs have been digging. The handles are good-sized and have some gel in them which makes them more comfortable for long use.

Good starter kit if you don't already have these tools
I got this set to complete my collection of gardening tools, and it nicely filled in for a few I didn't already have. But each of the items I previously had was a bit better, as follows: (1) the soil scoop included in this set was really small. I didn't think it would be ideal compared to my existing larger scoop. (2) the cultivator didn't have the good balance of my existing Amex wooden-handled cultivator, which interestingly was around the same price (3) the weeder was nowhere near as good as my much more expensive model from a competing brand. The head was not symmetrically machined, and it didn't have a deep enough "V" to pull many weeds (4) the trowel didn't have a good balance in the hand. Generally speaking, I found the ergonomic cushy grip to be mediocre, because they were unusually large, and the odd angles of the handles made leverage sub-optimal. I don't think garden tools really need cushy grips, as there isn't much shock applied to the hand when using them. Instead, they need to be well balanced. Overall, my favorite tool of the bunch was the hand rack, which had a much better balance than the others due to the straight handle. The transplanter was similarly balanced for the same reason. I really didn't like the steep angels of the trencher and cultivator, but maybe they would work for others. The real problem is that ordering this bundle doesn't save you much money versus buying each one separately, and in some cases, you are definitely better off with competing tools around the same price, including those from Ames.

Comfy and sturdy
This is a great little collection of tools for just about any job around the garden. The handles are comfortable in the hand and provide a nice grip. The materials are strong and never feel flimsy, even when you're raking or digging your way through rocky dirt or roots. The soil scoop has even come in handy for repotting houseplants (and emptying out the raised box before winter).

Complete set for any NEW gardener at a valued price.
Go out and get this complete hand tool collection for this unbelievable price for the new gardeners in your family. We recently acquired a couple of these sets of Trowel, Transplanter, Weeder, Rake, Cultivator and Scoop made of durable stainless steel for our daughters as they set out to beautify their new properties with their favorite vegetables and flowers. We have been buying Ames products for years to manage our own gardening needs but never had the opportunity until now to get the complete starter set. These new tools today come with special features we didn’t have years ago like soft gel grip handles and markers on the transplanter that provide you with depth readings. The biggest advantage to this product set is the versatility and completeness.

Stout, sturdy, useful and comfortable
I have a still functional Ames trowel that is 20 years old, which I plan to give away to a friend. Hey, it worked for 20 years, so I decided to refresh with a complete set. The first thing that hits you is just how sturdy and hefty these tools are. Anyone who has bought a cheap trowel with a regular steel scoop knows just how fast things can go bad. These are not those tools. They are stainless and sturdy. I love the gel grips too, very comfortable on the hands. All the tools have a place in the garden. I find the trowel to be the best overall tool, but sometimes the narrower planter comes in handy, and of course the scoop is best for getting the soil out of bags. The other tools come in handy for their specific tasks too. Made in China

A very, very substantial set of Garden Tools
This AMES six-piece stainless-steel Garden Tool Set is substantial – proportioned for larger size hands, but not out of reach by smaller ones. For example, the inch-and-a-half deep Scoop is just about 4x6 inches with an overall length of 13 ½ inches. The well-known AMES company has been around for two-hundred-forty-eight years and, according to the attached tags, their tools are guaranteed for fifteen years.

Very useful set , excellelnt quality
Sometimes one feels the quality of a tool the minute one picks it up. This is what happened when I first started using these garden tools: Stainless steel construction with excellent welds and sufficient overlap between handle and blade of trowel or scoop to guarantee many seasons of use even under heavy use. The scoop and hand rake turn out to be very useful and are not often included in sets. Trowel and planter are great in size and the rake features the same quality welds. The back of the handles have a feature which allows you to push hard when digging without stressing your hand. I often work without garden gloves, then the rubberized handles come in handy, but if you use a rubberized glove (like my garden partner) she prefers a smooth surface, like wooden handles. I am not sure the silicone inserts are useful at all, and hope they don't degrade and break out of the handle under heavy use. Best set of garden tools we have used!

Excellent garden hand tool set
The Ames 6 piece gardening tool set is the basic planting hand tools set. It has the cultivator to break up the soil, the hand trowel to move it around, and the transplanter, a garden trowel with markings on it for depths to 4" (10 cm). The set also has the hand welder, a hand rake (one of momma’s favorite tools), and the garden scoop for measuring soil and adding fertilizers, lime, vermiculite, etc., etc., The business end of the tools are made of stainless steel, a little tougher to sharpen, but shouldn't rust. The handles are a firm plastic with a soft gel core that sticks out on the side to allow a better grip and relieve some of the tension generated while digging. The handles also have holes in them for hanging them up when not in use. The The Ames 3 piece gardening tool set is the basic planting hand tools set.
