I am renovating an old cinder block grocery store into a residence. In the winter, the block walls sweat horribly which creates mildew & moisture that ruins anything near it. It would appear this might eliminate the problem. My question is, can I paint over it with my preferred color once it's applied and cured?
Asked by: Carol
Yes, and quite easily. I applied two coats to a sweaty wall, waited two weeks (only because I was busy elsewhere) and then painted over it.

My application is to the exterior of a pony wall on a porch which is 1 inch of exposed block on the bottom and t1-11 over that. I am planning on using the seam tape and the block and wall liquid rubber. It will be covered by a trim board. My question is how well will this sealant work after fully cured in the extreme heat of Arizona, sometimes up around 120 degrees F?
Asked by: ks
Block and Wall can withstand those temps with no issues. Make sure that the Block and Wall is not exposed to direct sunlight. It is not UV resistant. Exterior grade latex paint works well to protect from sunlight.

What is the life expectancy of this product and could I apply a smooth stucco coat over the top? I have a seeping cinder block retaining wall between my house and my neighbor. The current paint is badly peeling and some of the blocks are deteriorating. I was thinking of sealing the wall with this product and then doing a smooth coat of stucco over the top to make it all beautiful again. Would this hold up for long under a layer of stucco?
Asked by: sonofamram
This would be an ideal application for Block and Wall Liquid Rubber. For a successful application make sure the wall is clean and dry before coating with Block and Wall. Make sure all the failing paint is removed. To assure good adhesion add an acrylic modifier to the stucco mix before application to the Block and Wall finish. The Block and Wall will outlast the stucco.

Block and Wall 1 gal. Liquid Rubber Waterproof Sealant is rated 4.9 out of 5 by 13.

After torrential rains I would have water entry in several areas. After applying this product I no longer have any water entry. All walls are dry after any rain. I am thrilled with the results!

It is important to remove any traces of mold and all loose material so there is a good bond. It seems to work. best when the surface is dry with no water seepage. Use the trowel in sealer for large cracks before using this as a top coat. Relatively no odor when using this product although I would make sure there is ventilation during the application and drying time.

Arrived on time, really easy to use-not dripping or hard to apply. I used a regular paint brush on a 130 sq f rough concrete blocks wall. Did two coats and still have some left in a gallon. Dries slowly.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The first thing I did after receiving this was to put two layers of the product on a piece of thick cardboard about 12in X 12 in and then let it sit for a couple of days. After trying without success over the years to remedy water seeping through our basement, if it waterproofed this piece of cardboared, then the basement area were next on the list. Leaving it overnight in the rain I peeled the rubber paint off the surface to reveal the inside dry and that was good enough for me to continue and do the walls. This Ames block and wall is good on the adhesive side of the specs. No matter what product I had attempted in the past 10 years in order to remedy water seeping through the rough rock lower walls of the basement, nothing had worked. It was easy to layer on using an old 4 inch paint brush and it stayed where I had brushed it on with no sign of this elastomeric, liquid rubber sliding off. I was somewhat surprised that the paint did not produce a bad smell and what odor it did have, albeit small, it soon was lost within a short space of time, certainly within a couple of hours. As I had on previous occasions marked the worst areas that water has seeped through, I concentrated on those places, spreading two coats over a 24 hour period. On the third day after I had finished using the liquid rubber we had a rain storm that lasted all day and most of the night. The next day when checking the results and the effectiveness of the product, the areas that I had used the product on was clear of any water. I am not at all sure if I used too much as I only put two coats on a 2 foot high 20 feet wide area. Either way, it worked and worked to perfection. I was so impressed that I am going to order another few gallons in order to complete the intended areas of the basement. Even the brush I used, instead of throwing it away, it cleaned up quite nicely using only water but after drying it is now waterproof.

The sealant was easy to apply and adhered really good. The smell of the sealant wasn't overpowering which I appreciated. The concrete I used this sealant on was over seventy years old and I simply wire brushed the surface and applied even coats until the sealant was gone. I would absolutely recommend this.

Have a crack in a settling house that stayed closed for almost thirty years. Now there is leaking when torrential rain storms occur. Have tried the pneumatic cement with little success, also used the sealing coatings sold commercially with little long-term success. This product was easy to use, required no mixing, and was applied liberally to the crack area after thorough cleaning and debris removal. Made a 12" path of the product to ensure the rubberized coating would adhere.

I have an old house with a lot of water problems, and I would say this product really helped. This rubber sealant is great for wet basements. I was able to easily apply it across a large surface area, and it looks clean and smooth. The wet spots that we used to have on the walls are now gone. The mix set pretty quick and seemed to repel water right away, I think overall I will plan to use more of this in the future.
