Excellent product, per recommendation of Ames Research, I used both Blue Max and Max Stretch to repair and upgrade my very low slope roof. Product went on smooth and applied two coats of each. I recommend using sun glasses when applying Max Stretch white, since it really does reflect the Sun light. Blue max dries fast, the max stretch took extra time and was still ‘tacty’ to the touch after 24 hours. Looking forward to 10+ years of not having to worry about this roof again.

I’ve been in the trades for decades and I have to say I got this product with no hopes that it would live up to its claim to be a roll on waterproofer. On top of that, the label shows OSB implying that you can waterproof wood with it. I took that as a challenge. I took an ordinary piece of 3/4 cdx plywood that was laying around and using a 49¢ throw away paint brush applied a heavy coat of Blue Max to the wood with no surface prep of any kind. Blue Max is the consistency of custard and is super bright blue In the can but when dry is dark blue and transparent. I let it dry for 24 hours and applied a second coat. Let that dry 24 then submerged it in water for 2 days. The Blue Max was still sticky the same way soft rubber is but it was definitely adequately cured. I removed the sample and as the pic shows the more opaque part was below water and the dark part was above. I cut the sample across both areas and to my amazement the wood inside was completely bone dry. This demonstration shows me that this is an outstanding product. To be able to protect wood with 2 coats of this is amazing. The possibilities are endless. I will now plan to use this product on all wood products that I expect to have intermittent exposure to water. And based on its ability to protect wood I’m confident it does an exceptional job of sealing masonry. Top notch stuff, highly recommended!!!

Ames Blue Max is my “go to” solution for those serious water problems nobody wants to have to deal with. I Have had great results with it in the garage, where some rain and the run off from my soaking wet icy snowblower during Winter storms had been wicking up the unfinished concrete wall, threatening my tools. Normally a blessing when everything is working perfectly, my house gets water service from a deep (75 feet) Artesian Well, that brings us delicious and chemically pure water at a natural pressure of 17 pounds per square inch. So even during storm electrical outages that take out the pressure boosting jet pump for a time, sinks and even the shower are not affected. The water line coming into the basement level Family Room, next to the garage has sprung a leak somewhere outside the foundation, and it has been channeling a lot of water our way that has been too much for a lesser brand of that old standby silica based concrete wall sealer that had been applied some years ago. It is coming off in patches due to the onslaught. The wall and the floor there is a mess and has to be vacuumed constantly. I also believe there has been a build-up of water in the soil out there that is going to take some time to dissipate after we have a contractor dig out the offending water line and replace it, still a few days off. This impressive Ames Blue Max is a relatively new on the scene liquid rubber formulation that includes a nice blue finish along with the promise to aggressively seal the wall with enough trust to go ahead and do a finish floor and wall treatment over it. It is certified for not only interior wall application, but exterior below grade as well. It will also handle wood, concrete and masonry surfaces with the same aggressive, tough bond. The pressure resistance of this product is 80 pounds per square inch, and it does not support mold and fungus growth, that can be a health concern. Bear in mind that science has not yet produced a concrete leak sealer that you can splash into a waterfall and freeze it, so no matter how you approach the repair, a thorough, patient and excellent surface preparation to give any sealer you choose a clean dry bonding surface, free of any prior sealers to fuse itself too is the key to amazing results that hold up for years. Raise the room temperature a bit if you can, and if necessary, employ a fan, dehumidifier or rent one of those small but powerful construction site heaters for a couple of days, the kind that allow perfect concrete floors to be laid in the Winter if needed to maintain that critical dry surface long enough to get a good bond. Check out the Home Depot tool rental desk for help with this. Also, a second coat of Blue Max on top of an already dry initial coat is very important.

I have high expectations for Blue Max Waterproofing Sealer. I struggle with a damp basement that I would like to finish. I've taken steps outside to keep water away from the foundation, but I still have areas which are moist or where I deal with effervescence. I feel Blue Max is going to be the answer. It has the consistence of pudding, not like the paint I've used in the past. I used a roller and brush which worked out fine (I tossed them, as cleaning wasn't worth the hassle). I allowed 24 hrs between coats So far, so good.

Blue Max 1 gal. Basement Sealer Regular Grade By Ames products is a bit over stated. The good side is it’s very easy to apply but a bit messy due to the thin nature of the product being applied to vertical walls. The product does what it’s says it fills in those nooks and crannies over concrete surfaces and dries to a candy shell finish sealing the surface. Cleanup was simple soap and water very easy. After letting the wall dry and the surface harden I found my pin hole leaks were still there. I was hoping for a miracle product that would finally seal my below grade wall. If you looking for an easy to apply product with easy clean up to stop concrete wall seepage then this is your product. Be prepared that the wall dries to a royal blue color. I applied a double coat on the pin holes. Didn’t help.

We've had a lot of rain this past year and I have a retaining wall inside my tool room that has been seeping water inside. I finally got a couple of days where it was dry and the temperature was above 55 so I could apply this Blue Max Basement Sealer to the wall in hopes it will keep the water out of my shop. As always, prep work was required; had to scrape and brush all the loose flaking paint and debris off the wall. Once that was done I tried rolling the product on the wall with a small paint roller but it wasn't covering good so I switched to a 4" brush with much better results. The Blue Max sealer is real thick but it does run so I had to keep lapping it with my brush as I wanted to put it on as thick as possible. It turned almost clear when it dried except for the areas where I had it on extra thick. I ended up applying two coats to make sure it was sealed good and still had plenty of product left in my 1 gallon can. Running my hand over the wall, I can feel the smooth rubber coating and it appears to be water-tight. Clean-up was easy with soap and water. A very strong odor of the product in my shop but I'm sure it will abate as it cures. I am very pleased with how this sealer looks and feels and it was very easy to apply. I will find out on the next rain if it works but I feel confident that it will.

This Blue Max waterproofing paint is a must for basements, some crawl spaces, and any place else that water could or has seeped through. You do have to make sure that the surface is free of loose material of any kind and that you seal up any wide cracks with another Ames product. Once done, and with a clean and dry surface just brush it on. Two or more coats is best. This dries with a rubberized and protective finish. Recommended.
