Answer This Question

We appreciate your inquiry. We are here to assist. Please be informed that our storm door is generally mounted to the outer door frame (or brickmould) using a metal mounting rails known as Z-bars. These Z-bars are secured directly to the sides and top of the wooden or composite door frame, after which the storm door is attached directly to these rails. -Jess

      Answer This Question

Thank you for your question, Screen. To lower the window and reveal the retractable screen on your Andersen 2000 Series Retractable Aluminum Storm Door, just pull down on the central window handle or disengage the top latches found on the upper ventilating glass panel. For your convenience, you can refer to this link: https://helpcenter.andersenwindows.com/stormdoor/s/article/Operating-the-Window-Handle-for-Andersen-and-EMCO-Self-Storing-Series-Storm-Door - Arnie

Q: How do you lower window to expose screen? A: their answer explains how to expose screen, does not explain how to lower the window. Apparently this door has no window. Idk, I haven't found anything about window in this ad.

Can this door be set up to swing inward?
              ByJun 2, 2026
              1 Answer |
              Answer This Question

Thank you for your inquiry, JimE. We regret to inform you that this particular storm door is exclusively intended for outswing installation. Storm doors serve as an additional weather barrier, and their hinges along with the frame overlaps inhibit them from being installed to swing inward towards the primary entry door. -Arnie

                    Great door
We recently installed this 2000 Series full view storm door, and overall it’s been a great addition to our home. The full glass design really stands out—it lets in a lot of natural light and gives the entryway a clean, modern look. The retractable screen is a really nice feature too. It rolls up smoothly when not in use, so you can easily switch between fresh air and a clear view without having to swap panels. Installation was fairly straightforward, especially since it comes prepped for assembly. It took a couple of hours with basic tools, which made the process manageable even without professional help. The door itself feels sturdy and well-built. The aluminum frame and tempered glass give it a durable feel, and it seems like it will hold up well over time with minimal maintenance. One feature we really like is the step closer, which allows you to hold the door open hands-free—small detail, but very convenient. If there’s any downside, it’s that some of the smaller components (like clips or retainers) could be a bit more robust, but overall it doesn’t take away from the performance. Overall: A stylish, functional storm door that adds light, ventilation, and convenience. Final verdict: Great quality and easy to use—especially if you want the flexibility of a retractable screen without sacrificing a full glass view.

Had the door installed. Left for a couple hours, came back and the top window frame had come completely apart and the window was all the way at the bottom and is no longer usable. Now will have to remove door and drive 75 miles to get it replaced

                      Faulty Jamb Bracket
A piece of the bracket just fell apart, Bad forging, Anderson will replace with an $8.99 shipping charge for a piece of junk that couldn't cost $1.00. They should be so embarrassed that they do not stand 100% behind their product. And good luck communicating with customer service.

                          Poor durability
I purchased this door two and a half years ago for our winter home. From the start it was good worked as advertised although one part did break and I had to jump through some hoops to get it replaced but I did get it. It started getting tough to open last year. This year almost impossible and then the bottom fell out including the spring and the gears the whole bottom of the left hand side had broken out. I certainly do not recommend this product especially if it's going to be used often it will not hold up.

                            Screen mechanism is questionable
I purchased and installed last fall. The screen mechanism failed this past spring. It may have had 30-40 cycles of up and down. I paid the $70 for a replacement screen assembly. It took about 10 minutes to replace. I pulled the screen down and went to eat dinner. I came back and it had already failed. It looks like it completely unrolled off the spring/drum assembly. I'm not sure what changed but the one on my front door is 15yo and still works perfectly.

                              Quality control issue.
It’s ok, install was fairly easy, and it looks good. My issue was the quality control on the holes drilled on the inside of the door frame. They are too far over and knick the door which also keeps it from closing. I had to drill my own holes a little to the left. Poor quality control in my eyes.
