Q:This door requires the installer to DRILL into the aluminum to install the handle set! It does not come with instruction OR a template!!! The installation guides don't mention it anywhere, not even online.

The door is very well made; but the instructions are terrible. Instead of real photos they are drawn and none of the parts have any labeling on them to make it difficult to reference the correct part to the instructions. It would be nice if each part had an ID letter or word to match the instructions. Also stated that it would be about 2 hours that can only be true if you are an experienced carpenter. The door is very heavy, I am 71 and would recommend an additional pair of hands to hold the door up. All in all the door is great it just took much longer for me to install, not counting minor adjustments I needed to make. It's all about the instructions being inferior.

I haven't been able to install or use the door yet, so this rating pertains to the fact that the color of the door I received didn't look anything like this picture nor the pictures I referred to when ordering! It was the most light almond color I've ever seen--more like a bone white! The 3 stars is because it appeared to have all the features I was looking for and the return/refund was done in a fair and professional manner. I bought another color of the same door in-store but haven't installed it yet.
I tried to "Add An Image." It took me to the box to let me select the attachment but wouldn't respond when I clicked "Add An Image" again.

Storm door, Anderson, 400 series
Putting the door together was a nightmare. If not for a video on YouTube don’t think I would’ve got it together took close to 3 hours to install one of the windows keep popping out the quality of the door is total junk

Do not buy this door! POOR quality!
After researching and purchasing this door from our local Home Depot and having a professional install it, the window will not stay in place. It continuously falls out due to faulty design and has become an extreme hazard almost injuring our toddler nephew and small dog. The window keeps falling out and the screen ripped the very first day. We contacted Anderson customer service and were supplied videos on how to fix it ourselves without any success. It’s VERY dangerous! Please resolve!

So far, so good! The instructions were a bit confusing, so we found a You Tube video by Anderson, and used that instead. We went very slowly, and it took us around 2.5 hours. If I did it again, we could do it in half the time! While the video showed one person doing it, you honestly need two for certain steps. The only issue I encountered was that the lower (fixed) window kept popping out. I think I have it in for good now. My husband, who was not on board at first, agreed it looks great and really makes the house pop!

OK if you aren’t expecting long-lasting
Professionally installed by contractor who built my screened porch. It was good for about 10 years and the finish started cracking 4 years ago. Shaded side of house in mid-Atlantic area - not a result of sun exposure. Renewal by Andersen does not replace these types of doors, even if I pay for it.

Expensive piece of junk
Less than two years old. Already replaced $40 handle which snapped off. Screen came off roller and no longer works. Worst part is that the inside core particle board has mildewed from poor design. All Andersen had to do was seal the seams at the top of the door to prevent this. THE DOOR STINKS LIKE MILDEW!!! We could not figure out where the smell was coming from and almost ripped out the entire door frame to find it. The water seeped in at the top seam and saturated the particle board core at the entire bottom of the door - see pic. Just installed in 2021. Will be making a call to Andersen next.

The door I ordered was supposed to have a silver...
The door I ordered was supposed to have a silver door handle. This one was gold. The lock could only be installed upside down. Plus the grids didn’t fully sit properly in the door. The bright white pieces on the sides of the grids that should fit snugly I sure the frame were exposed. The door itself seems nice and looks great other than the fact that it has its visual flaws.
