I gave up using a bread pan for drywall mud a long time ago in favor of a hawk board. I find this one to be superior to the wood handled hawk that I have been using. The grip is shaped better and the screw that holds the handle to the board does not work back out and the handle does not rotate around the bolt. I found that once the handle is tight, it does not rotate. Easy to clean. I expect this hawk to last a long time.

At first I wasn’t too sure because I haven’t heard too much of Anvil but I was definitely impressed. Definitely like this mud hawk. It’s made well, the handle is rubber/plastic with some foam to not irritate your hand as you work and it cleans off easily. I see no signs of rust which I really like after cleaning mud off. The edges are nice and straight to clean my trowel as I go and it’s really lightweight. I’ll definitely be using this more often. It surprised me and definitely feels like it’s going to last.

I really like this product, this is my 2nd one to own. I have not worn the old one out but I confess it has been used for mortar that's how heavy duty it is. Comes with a finger pad and a perfect sized handle. This one will only be used for drywall mud and will leave the other for the mortar. Item came shipped to my door in perfect condition. I highly recommend this product.

Great for the home DIY(r). I'm not a professional but I do all my own drywall work, to include, replacing/patching, taping and mudding. It's almost impossible to pull mud out of a bucket, especially with a wide finishing blade. Until now I got by using a cheap plastic dustpan (hahaha). This hawk is a big step up for me. Just the right size for the relatively small projects I do. It will be nice to work the mud on the hawk and use as needed. This hawk is light weight but strong. The grip is just the right size for my hands and is very comfortable. Highly recommended the home use.

As with any tool I look for different uses in different trades. I use this when doing touch up work on drywall, as it holds just enough mud and more conveniently that a mud pan. I have also learned to use this when grouting large format wall tile, especially when using urethane grout. I hold it just below the joint that to be grouted, while using tbe grout float to push it in the joint. Works great and less messy.
