HD Chat suggested Meridian Intenational Co (www.meridianintl.com) but after several days/email exchanges, offered me an Anvil shovel, but it was not for digging. They did not distribute this particular shovel, suggested talking to HD Store Manager.

          Shovel Handle split
The handle near the shovel insert split on the first day I used it. I continued my task with my neighbors shovel without problems.

              Terrible
I bought it about a month ago and finally got to use it this morning. The handle snapped immediately.

                Unsuitable for digging
I bought this shovel for gardening -- digging holes for planting trees and shrubs. For this purpose, it failed miserably. The angle is too extreme and makes it unworkable.

                    Broke!!!
First time tried using to dig up a clump of grass the handle broke right off! Broke where the handle meets the metal part of the shovel and you can tell it’s cheap wood maybe compressed stuff in the handle with some thin layer to look like a solid piece glued onto the outside. Cheap cheap cheap junk like balsa wood- a joke

                      looked good
For a less than twenty dollar shovel it's all right. looked good hanging up in my garage. But the first time I put any weight on the handle it broke.

Anvil 47 in. L Wood Handle Steel Digging Shovel
My Review for Anvil 47 in. L Wood Handle Steel Digging Shovel. Let's start with some good features. It has a hole in the top of the handle that makes it easy to hang up. It is also reasonably priced. Unfortunately, this shovel feels really cheap. The handle is stained dark, to look like a hard wood, but it is really light weight and feels like it will break. The steel shovel has a thin coating over it, which is easily scratched and that scratch will rust, as mine is currently doing. The pin holding the shovel to the handle is also rusting and this shovel is brand new.

OK for light work but not heavy digging
I do a lot of work around my property so I like to have garden tools easily accessible. Much of the work I do ends up with me digging through hard dirt, rocks, and roots so I like a strong shovel. Since I rarely dig soft material, I need a nice, strong shovel. Unfortunately, this Anvil 47 in. L Wood Handle Steel Digging Shovel is not up to the tasks I usually have to do. The metal on the shovel blade feels flimsy and does not seem as if you could apply any substantial force without bending it. When I did start applying pressure, it felt as if it was going to bend so I stopped. The handle is a nice wood handle with a hole in the top so you can hang it up but I’m also concerned on the handle’s ability to tolerate heavy work. I’ll keep the shovel around in case I need to dig in soft material but I really don’t think I’ll get much use out of it.
