A really well made trowel that will last for years!
Here is my quick review of my new Anvil 5-2/5 in. wood handle trowel. This hand trowel from Anvil is perfect for weeding, planting, and transplanting. With the smooth blade back, it is easy to move and smooth out your soil. The Anvil brand hand trowel is rust resistant and has a black coated steel head that is wire welded to the handle to ensure longevity and durability. Having a metal blade means that you can really get into your gardening without worrying if the blade is going to bend or break. (Which happens with plastic garden trowels!) The large solid hardwood handle gives you a secure grip and a good feel of what you are working with. The handle has a chamfered hanging hole, and a leather lanyard is also attached. This Anvil 5-2/5" wood handle trowel is going to give you years of service all around our home, inside and out!
This trowel is sturdy metal, black coated with a wooden handle. The trowel is very well secured into the handle so there is little chance of it coming out. The metal is tough and will not bend in hard soil. There is also a leather hanging strap through a hole in the handle. It's a hard trowel good for most gardening needs. It measures 13 inches overall. The metal part is 6 inches long and 3-1/2 inches at its widest area.
It is very well made. Both the blade and handle are extremely sturdy. It feels like it will last a long time. The blade has a nice coating on it. I don’t see it rusting anytime soon. I try to clean off the blade when I’m done to prolong its life, but I usually forget. The handle is thick and feels comfortable in my hands. The handle had a smooth finish, but you still maintain your grip.
I just need the 5 2/5in. Wood handheld trowel from Anvil and is the best in class, it’s designed for a wide variety of gardening jobs like planting, digging and scooping soil, the combination of and ergonomical wood handle and the black coated steel made this trowel a long lasting and better performance tool. It’s 13in. Long from tip to the back of the handle and 6in x 3.5in only the metal trowel. Digs without effort.
The Anvil 5-2/5 in. Wood Handle Trowel will make planting spring flowers easier this year. Its sharply pointed blade plunges easily into hard soils, easing the stress on your wrists and hands. The black coating should help it remain rust free for season after season. My only concern is that the handle is relatively smooth, so it’s not as easy to grip as a coated handle might be. I’m sure that will get better as the trowel is used a few times.
I've only had this for a short time and planned on using it to split my iris bulbs, but the snow and cold weather has made that difficult. So I only have first impressions with very little use. What I like, it has a nice point and digs in easily, it also does not bend easily like some of my other hand tools (in fact it hasn't bent at all). It also seems to have a solid wood handle. Things I don't care for. The leather loop in the handle; while I realize this is too hang it up, it gets in the way of my hand/grip. I would rather just have a solid handle that doesn't hang up vs this loop. The other thing that doesn't really bother me, but something to keep in mind; is that the handle is not ergonomic, it is just a round wood dowel and your hand may slip a little when digging. Other than that it is a handy little trowel and I'm looking forward to split some bulbs. It has a nice look about it and I'm hoping the black paint doesn't wear too quickly and allow it to rust.
I like this product. It is a black metal trowel which appears to be very sturdy. The handle is welded onto the trowel and the metal is thicker. I dug with it in the garden and it held up well. I have purchased other trowels in the past which have bent or rusted quickly. Cleaning it was easy and there was no residual dirt on the head. I would recommend this trowel.
I use this trowel for transplanting and digging up some dirt as well as digging through grass and weeds. I got it to replace an old plastic trowel that wasn't sharp at all (see last photo for comparison). This Anvil brand trowel is nice and sharp and has a solid feeling grip with the wooden handle. The leather tie looped through the end makes it easy to hang.
Just used this to divide and transplant some canna lily bulbs - the pointed edge was great to dig around and lift the bulb and pull it out cleanly with the roots. Breaking up new soil to transplant the bulbs in their new place was very easy too. Sturdy comfortable handle, and the weight is light enough to work with easily, but strong enough to break ground and complete the project efficiently. I’ve been using a rounded edge hand shovel for the longest time as an all purpose tool and while it was sufficient, this pointed edge trowel clearly makes a huge difference. Glad I added this extra tool to my gardening kit!
Very nice shovel. unfortunately, it was not the one pictured. the one pictured has a three prong tilling end on one side, and a flat edged cleave on the other side. this is not what i received. the one i received was a simple hand spade shovel. very well made. the wood handle is sturdy and fits nicely into the hand. the tip seems sharp enough to cut into any soil and/or roots. the spade is made of thick metal, and the welds are smooth and sturdy. the end of the wood handle has a leather strap/loop for hanging. all in all, a nice hand shovel. just wish it was the one i ordered.
