PureVue Dimmable Bright White LED Puck Light Brushed Steel Finish

For many years my company has designed and built custom kitchens, generally for higher end homes. Lighting is an essential part of the overall design and can separate a good kitchen from the great kitchen. Besides general lighting provided by recessed cans and island lighting provided by pendent lights it is essential to provide undercabinet lighting as part of the overall lighting scheme. Since we always close up the bottom of all upper cabinets with matching plywood panels, I very often lean toward recessed puck lights for that purpose. Until recently, I used halogen lamps for the lighting source. It is great look and provides plenty of light when while prepping meals. They look equally dramatic when dimmed to a lower output when the counters are not being used. Halogen lights, however, have 2 major drawbacks: they run very hot and the lamps have a relatively short lifespan when used continuously. When I came across these dimmable LED puck lights from ARMACOST I was thrilled. I made up a sample panel with 1 ARMACOST puck light and tested it out on our current project. The unit itself is well made. It appears to be stainless steel and comes in 2 parts: the light itself and a shallow surface mount enclosure to use should that be necessary. Since I always recess my lights I will not be needing the enclosure. The unit produced ample light - so much so that I doubt my customer will ever run them full on and will instead choose to dim them slightly with the LUTRON line voltage dimmer wired on the line side of the 24vdc LED driver. I generally space these lights 12-14” OC apart to maintain even lighting across the surface. The color temperature is a cool 4000k and when I order the rest of the lights I will get them in 2700k. I prefer the warmer color and think the 4000k is a bit harsh. However, that is a personal preference and does not reflect poorly on ARMACOST lights at all. As a matter of fact, ARMACOST LED PUCK LIGHTS, in 2700k are now our standard undercabinet lighting source. These LED lights can be powered by either a 12vdc or 24vdc driver. They are made in China.

The Armacost lighting Purevue and Armacost lead driver 12-volt DC power supply was order together and delivered at one box. Because of to install the light I need both of them. the light is looks stylist and durable. I install the light with 12-Volt DC power supply for testing. The light is very bright and best for my closet and the light with DC power have dimming option. It est fit for my long closet. But I need some wiring by electrician.

This light gives out a great amount of light. It is hard wired light, so unless you are a fairly adept electrician you might consider having someone else install them for you. There were instructions included in the box for my lights, but I still made the mistake of putting one of them together before I mounted the base. Sadly that meant that I was not able to mount that one properly because it is next to impossible to remove the face of the light after they have clicked into place. Overall, a nice looking product, but I feel like the manufacturer could have put a little more thought into the actual function of the light.

You have to have a transformer for this light , it doesn't come with one. I didn't need a transformer as I put it in a 12 volt system as you will see in the picture. Great little low profile UCL or even a cargo area light in a SUV. I used mine as an Isle way light on a boat hooked it up to the courtesy light switch and bingo plenty of bright light and no tripping on stuff. This Led runs cool and is considered by the manufacturer to be their bright white . The finish on it is very good with no pits or bubbles and comes with a mounting ring and screw for surface mount. I drilled a 2 and 3/8 hole to flush mount it but a 2 and 5/16 or 1/4 , might have been a little better. The light is 12 or 24 VDC I didn't try it on 24 VDC too see if it was any brighter .

I received the Armacost Lighting PureVue Dimmable Bright White LED Puck Light Brushed Steel Finish, Silver for free to review. However, I have been unable to install and use it since it requires an existing 12-24 low voltage DC power source. There was no power source included, so I will have to find one before I can install it. The light goes come in nicely packaged and appears to be made of high quality materials.

Led Puck , I like the solid mounting ring that can be mounted flush or on the surface. The light assembly clips in without much effort. Removal of the light needs to be pried with a thin blade. I would use plastic. Wiring is simple with marked wires 12-24v dc. You will need a transformer to get this going. The manufacture as an array or install clips transformers etc. Do some planning and you won’t be trying to invent the methods to make the lights work. The pucks are also dimmable , again using the MFG dimmer also there are some Wifi products that will also control this product. You will be happy with the quality and performance with this puck light .

Nice design and finish. Difficult to press together without damaging the lens. Once pressed in, was slightly off center. Not major issues, but distracting considering the price. Try using a block of wood bigger than the lens to press in and put a cloth over it first so not to scratch the finish. The cable length is OK if you are daisy chaining, but I was short for the first light installed from the switch. Difficult to pry out if you need to move the base for any reason.

When I first unboxed this light I thought there must have been a mistake. It was so small and thin, I did not think this could be the light I ordered. Gladly, I was wrong. This little puck light is only 2 3/4 inches in diameter. It can be mounted on your surface or it can be recessed. The light is not on a kimball so it can’t be angled or directed. The finish is a brushed nickel and it looks beautiful. When I look at it, I think stainless steel. The lines are clean, crisp and it just feels like top end quality. LED lighting is the future and this little guy is right on board. This one’s a winner.

This a simple wired in feature light that will go well in a small curio cabinet or trophy case. It's small...really small - much smaller than a hockey puck. It is a flush mount with no real mounting bracket so is screws right to the surface of whatever you put this on. If there is any header framing on your cabinet or case it should hide pretty well since it has a very short profile
