Product Details

The Armacost Lighting 60 Watt; 12 Volt Universal Dimming LED Power Supply delivers stable and energy-efficient, low-voltage power to any LED lighting installation. The LED lighting driver is designed using high-performance, professional grade electronics that provide stable 0 or 100% dimming free of any "pop-on" or "drop-off". The power supply is rated up to 60-watts at 12-volts. For the best results use Armacost Lighting LED lights, switches and dimming light controls. Plug-in or hardwire with detachable AC power cord. Suitable for both dry and damp locations. Includes: 1) 60W, 12V Power Supply, 1) Detachable AC Power Cord
  • Smooth, full range, flicker-free dimming
  • Compatible with BOTH 120 Volt AC dimmers and lighting controls and low-voltage DC dimmers and controls
  • Connect up to 100% of the rated 60-watt maximum load - derating performance is not required
  • No minimum power load; dimming works equally well whether powering a single 3-watt LED puck light or 60 watts of tape lighting, or a combination of both
  • For optimal AC dimming performance, use a forward phase CL-style or equivalent dimmer. The use of reverse phase or ELV may degrade dimming performance.
  • Class 2 power supply features overload protection, automatic shut-off
  • Limited 3-year warranty
  • ETL listed for dry or wet location use
  • Limited 3-year warranty

Q:Will this work for your Armacost PurVue Dimmable LED Puck Light
by|Apr 10, 2022
1 Answer
Answer This Question

A:  Thank you for your interest in Armacost Lighting. Yes, this driver will work with the PurVue Dimmable LED Puck Lights. These puck lights only use 4-watts each, so depending on how many you plan to have in your installation, you may not need a 60-watt you could use a dimmable driver with less watts.

    Answer This Question

A:  Thanks for your interest in Armacost Lighting. Yes; you can connect multiple sets of low voltage wires into this power supply. Pay special attention to polarity as that is a common mistake in applications such as these.

      Answer This Question

A:  Thanks for your interest in Armacost Lighting. It is a little difficult to answer this without additional information but this driver will work with the dimmer switch as you described.

      by|Nov 10, 2020

A:  Yes. Note that the Installation Guide (referenced in the Home Depot product listing) includes a section "Typical Wiring Diagram When Used with an AC Dimmer" which describes how to do so.

        Answer This Question

A:  Thanks for your interest in Armacost Lighting. This power supply uses premium electronics so there is no buzzing sound. Depending on the type of dimmer you use, there could be buzzing in the dimmer. This product allows you to use most current 120V wall dimmers or you could use a high quality DC dimmer.

        by|Aug 10, 2020

A:  No - it does not buzz.

Power supply worked perfectly. I paired it with about 40 ft of Armacost LED lighting (30 LEDs per meter) and connected it to an outlet powered by a motion sensor. It provides a nice amount of light for my pantry shelves.

            Under Cabinets LEDs
The transformer is very well made and works great with a Lutron dimmer. I’m very pleased with the Armacost brand except for their connectors. Once I switched them out with Home Depot’s Commercial Electric brand the system is awesome.

            Awesome 12v dimmable LED driver!
I did under cabinet LED light strip tape (about 12 feet) with this power supply connected to a Lutron Caséta lamp dimmer module. LED’s have perfect full dimming range and no flicker to the eye at any dimmed setting. Power supply barely gets warm which is nice too. Highly recommend!

Armacost Lighting's 60 Watt Universal Dimming LED Driver uses an integrated microprocessor to automatically sense and optimize dimming performance based on the load used. This electronic, solid-state power supply is also compatible with Armacost low-voltage 12-volt DC dimmers and RGB LED lighting controllers on the output side. It is suitable for dry and damp locations. A standard 120- volt AC dimmer can be directly wired to this LED Driver or to multiple LED Drivers on the input side. A 12-volt dimmer or RGB controller can be connected to the DC output side of the LED Driver to power different types of LED lighting equipment i.e. mini lights, tape lighting and puck lights. This Driver comes equipped with a electrical cord and plug on the input side. To obtain access to the input and output terminal block connectors there are end caps that are screwed down and need to be removed to get access to the screw terminals. The terminal connectors will accept 18 as well as 14 gauge wire. This lighting driver also comes in a 24-volt size.

First, let me admit that I've yet to install this device and, depending on the LEDs I eventually choose for my deck renovation [delayed due to Covid-19], I may or may not require an LED driver ... but I suspect I will and I'll need more than one. With that out of the way, let me tell you that this product is designed to be a constant 12V power supply for a run of LEDs which consume no more than 60 watts [that would be 5 amps @ 12V]. Depending on the length of the 14 ga low-voltage wire up to the first LED [and possibly between LEDs if they're wired individually], you could find that you're not getting full brightness. [I say 14 ga because while the instructions say 18 ga, the device will accept the heavier wire ... and a heavier wire here is your friend]. On the input side, my device came with a 6" power cord. That can be easily removed and hard-wired to 14 ga ROMEX [no ground wire required]. The device is not rated for "wet locations" [typical when outdoors]. Since mine will be installed under the deck where it'll be subject to rain, I'll put it in a vented enclosure. The complications I expect to encounter will be in the dimming arena. There's a lot to read here and there are restrictions along with flexibilities. Compatibility is the primary issue. It took us 50 years to rid ourselves of the ballast issues with fluorescents ... now LEDs come along and we see that "ballast-type" issues are being reintroduced ... grumble grumble. These drivers are like ballasts ... they age and die. Physically, it's compact and streamlined ... sleek actually ... looks like a white ballast with chamfered ends.

One of the nicest features of this transformer - besides its compact size, sleek lines, sealed construction, robust labeling and simplified mounting - is the fact that it can be plugged in, or hard wired without the addition of an electrical junction box. See photographs 1 and 2. The opposite end has a similar junction which readily attaches the LED strip adapter (leads). See photograph 3. I used this combination to produce under cabinet lighting. See photograph 4. The end result is a simple upgrade to my kitchen lighting that provides both ambient and task lighting. See photograph 5.

In it's defense this driver worked fine. It dimmed my under cabinet lighting. What I didn't like was instead of having a male end for an outlet, you had to hardwire directly to the driver. Which I didn't like mainly because the 14-2 Romex I used barely fit where the terminals we're located.
