Answer

I agree that the Armaflex is rated to 220 degrees. If the glue on the slit on it will hold, I can't say. It holds ok on my 130 degree pipes. Give it a try and if it does not hold together, get black ties not the white nylon ties to keep it close.

Probably . You should consult your vet. AP Armaflex® Pipe Insulation is a closed cell, fiber-free elastomeric thermal insulation. It is manufactured without the use of CFC's, HFC's or HCFC's. All AP Armaflex® products are made with Microban® antimicrobial product protection for added defense against mold on the insulation.

Used this to insulate the risers from the hot water heater. The galvanized pipe is 3/4" and the fittings are 1". used both with the wraps to hold it around the inverted U heat traps. Insulated all the way up for the Hot side and only to the heat trap on the cold side.

The pipe wrap was used to replace the insulation around the outside pipes connecting my HVAC units to the house foundation. The old insulation was split and decaying. The Armaflex insulation was the perfect replacement solution and was easy to install as it comes with an open seam along the length of pipe wrap which closes and seals as you peel off the plastic protective tape along the adhesive coated seam. Using a few plastic ties to bind wiring, refrigerant tubing and the insulated pipe together completed the job and kept everything organized and bound together.

I had some fairly tight turns, using flexible connectors, when connecting my new water heater. I needed very flexible pipe insulation to conform. I was able to get this to product conform and seal, but by the next day the seal had opened up in various places. I ended up having to put a bunch of zip ties on it to keep it closed. It still popped open in several areas. I would recommend it for straight and non-tight bends in the plumbing.

This is an excellent product. I just used it to insulate the return line on an older 5 ton central air unit as well as my outdoor faucets. It worked great. I had used the less expensive foam insulation in the past along with inexpensive cable ties and our Texas sun had deteriorated it to the point that it was falling apart (see photos). This time I used the Armaflex rubber along with a good grade of 11" Nylon 6/6 cable ties. I am sure it will last for many years to come. I also used it on my outdoor faucets.
