              A:  Thank you for your question. The cap opening is 4 inches, while the outside dimension is 4 1/4" square. The cap is approximately 1 3/8" tall with 1/2" installed over the top of the sleeve.

                    Tried to use on wooden 4x4 post and was way too big. I can only assume the cap is for a plastic post with exact 4x4 dimensions??
