Instant-Read Waterproof Folding Meat Thermometer

It’s so quick and easy to read. I especially like that opening the probe turns it on and off. Has a high temperature capacity. I do grill in the rain and it’s great that it’s waterproof. Temperature is nearly instant. Min/ Max temp hold and Fahrenheit or Celsius choice. A wonderful product and colorful!

The BBQ Dragon instant thermometer does everything you want in BBQ thermometer. It’s small, easy to use and accurate. It comes with batteries and is simple to use, unfold it and jab whatever you want to know the temperature of. It’ a little early for BBQ so I tested the accuracy, it’s pretty good. You can also calibrate it yourself if it's off so you can ensure your food is prepared exactly the way you want.

Great gadget to have.There was a lot of thought that went into the design of this instant read thermometer that makes it stand out from so many other brands. First, maybe insignificant but I believe this demonstrates how thoroughly the designing was thought through, the thermometer comes cradeled in foam rubber in the box. The box itself lists suggested cooking temperatures for different meat, thank you, I don't have to look it up seperately. To the core of the gadget, lovely that it's instant read, within 4 seconds. To turn it on, you simply open out the probe. Same to turn it off, close the probe. But should you forget to close it, it turns off itself in 10 minutes. And the feature I like best---it has a backlight!!!!!! just push the flashlight icon on the unit and now you can read in the dark. Well done BBQ Dragon company.

The BBQ Dragon Instant Read Waterproof Meat Thermometer is exceptional in design and features. To use simpy open the stainless steel probe and close to turn off. It has a 10 minute auto-off feature. The response time is very fast. It is waterproof, has a big hanging hole, a backlight function, a powerful magnet on the back, and a wide range of temperatures including fahrenheit (50 degree-572 degree) and celsius (50 degree to 300 degree). The user instructions are easy to follow. It is important to calibrate before using. It is packed in a nice box with a foam fitting interior. I recommend this product. BBQ Dragon offers many other grill items.

This thermometer is such an easy way to know that your BBQ is done to perfection. I have used BBQ thermometers that you have to hold.in the meat long enough to cook your hand. The best part of this thermometer is the speed at which it reads the temperature. It only takes a second or 2 and it gets to the true temperature of your steak. The back lit readout helps to read the temperature at the grill in low light situations. The calibration is easy to do and only takes a few seconds. Clean up is a breeze. If you BBQ at all this is a great way to help determine when your ready to eat.

Just received the BBQ Dragon Instant-Read Waterproof Meat Thermometer. I am going to really like using this thermometer when BBQing this summer. In the past I have used the one I have used for meats cooked in the oven and because it’s much smaller ( 7 1/2 “ with the probe) and it got too hot when using it for meats on the BBQ. The BBQ Dragon is 10 1/2” in length with probe so it should burn my hand. It’s a very nice size and is easy to handle. It has a backlight function ( nice for the evening), has a auto-shut off after 10 minutes, a stainless steel probe, can switch between Fahrenheit and Celsius, has suggested temperatures on the back of box for various meats, has a large display that most can read without glasses. It has a range of 58-572 degrees. Overall this is a very nice meat thermometer and I would recommend it to those BBQ enthusiasts.

The BBQ dragon meat thermometer is a clever design with the folding temperature probe. That feature allows you to carry it safely even in your pocket. The probe is stainless steel. The digital display is backlit for easy viewing. It is easy to use, you just open the probe and it turns on. I like the hole in the handle for hanging if needed. The temperature reading is pretty quick, but longer than the claimed 3-4 seconds, it is more like 10 seconds. Overall I'm happy with it.

Really good cooking thermometer can get expensive, so it nice to see one for under $30. What you give up at this price range is response time and accuracy. In my testing response time was between 4 to 5 seconds, and while that may not sound like a lot, it is when you hand is over a heat source. Accuracy is rated at plus or minus 2 F which is again a compromise from the plus/minus 1F of the expensive units. What you do get is a long 4.5" probe which helps keep hand away from the heat, the unit can be calibrated (and should be), large LED display, manual backlight function, folding probe storage, and the ability to hang on a hook or metal using the builtin magnetic. In addition the unit is water resistant, although the box says water proof the included manual warns about leaving it in water for minutes. To power the unit simply swing out the probe, it will auto off after 10 minutes if you forget to close the probe. While the probe arcs out to 180 degrees you can use it at any lesser angle. The LED readout will not rotate, but you can press the hold button until you can read it. The hold function will also come in handy for left handed people. It will also display min and max temps but don't see much value in that. Temp readout can be switched to either F or C. Temperature range is from -58F to 572.F A 3 volt battery makes the whole thing work and is included. I found the probe to be sensitive to nearby objects, I had ice cream a few inches away from the probe, yet it picked up on the cooler air around the container. Whether cooking on the grill or the in kitchen this is a must have tool.

My husband says my steak goes from just right to over cooked in about 30 seconds and he is probably right. I don't want it to bleed on my plate, but I also don't want it dry. I'm hoping this meat thermometer makes less guessing. It turns on as soon as you open the probe and it read my room temperature immediately, so I tried it simultaneously with a candy thermometer that I trust in a glass of hot water where they both read the same. It isn't quite instant and took about 5 seconds to get a final reading and there are instructions on how to calibrate if necessary. I didn't need the light to read the display but it will be handy when out on the deck with the BBQ at night. It also has a replaceable battery.
