Q:What is the best solution for trying to cover a aluminum gazebo roof? It’s faded and oxidized. What surface prep and then primer and then topcoat do you recommend?
by|Jul 13, 2024

Answer This Question

A:  Hi Gazebo, thank you for your question. You can use our Multi-Surface Roof Paint for the gazebo roof. You'll want to clean the surface and use wire brush to remove all loose coating and particles. Then, use the Multi-Surface Primer and Sealer No. 436 before painting. Good luck with your project! -Giovanna

Q:This Primer can I use on kitchen cabinet?

    Answer This Question

A:  Hi Paul, thanks for the question. Yes, our Interior/Exterior Multi-Surface Stain-Blocking Primer & Sealer is a great choice for priming wood kitchen cabinets. If the surface is glossy, I'd recommend scuff-sanding the cabinets with 180-grit sandpaper prior to applying the primer. If you have additional questions about your project, please reach out to us directly. Our customer care team is happy to help. -Ronald

Q:On new exterior wood would you recommend this primer than a coat of Behr STAIN (not paint)?

      Answer This Question

A:  Hi Bret, thank you for your question. Our exterior wood stains are a great choice for new exterior wood. They provide excellent durability and protection. The stains do not require a primer in most cases, and we advise against the use of one when applying a transparent or semi-transparent finish. We're happy to provide more information about the preparation and application of our stains. Please reach out to us directly so we can assist you further. We hope to hear from you soon! -Lina

Q:Will this go over oil base paint so you can paint latex in the future
        by|Jun 29, 2024

        Answer This Question

A:  Hi Marie, thanks for the question. Yes, our Interior/Exterior Multi-Surface Stain-Blocking Primer & Sealer can be applied over oil-based paint and you can paint over it with latex/water-based paint. If the oil-based paint is glossy, it should be scuff-sanded or de-glossed prior to applying the primer. Have a great day! -Ronald

Used to seal concrete stairs & porch after recementing. Adhere well & the member that helped me with color matched the color perfectly to blend in same color as foundation. I will be buying more of this product for remaining foundation work.

Worst quality by far of any primer on the market
Bought a gallon to primer and paint doors. Opened up the can and it was completely separated with a layer of semi solid material at the bottom. No amount of mixing with a paint mixer and drill got it to consistency even after 5 minutes at full speed. Also Lays down ultra thin so impossible to build up layers. Never should have bought it. Would have been worth driving the extra hour to get Sherwin Williams primer.

                Terrible
like many other one star reviews, after several months (not days or weeks), primed walls still "feel" a little tacky and not dry after two months. tried masking a small portion of the ceiling that has this primer on first, then Behr ceiling paint on top. Ceiling was primed and painted over 2 months ago. Pulled green tape off after 10 seconds to readjust and and either Behr paint pulled away from Behr primer or both came off from the bare joint compound. Does not seal plaster/joint compound. Use a quality PVA instead of this.

Hi Frustrated, thank you for your review. I'm sorry to hear that the primer felt tacky after two months and that it peeled off so easily. This is not normal, and I can understand your disappointment. The primer can be used on cured plaster without any issues. Quality Primer For Sure!
Used on new veneer plastered walls and ceilings in my new above garage master bed/bath/office suite addition. Also on partially plastered (seams & screw holes) blueboard walls/ceiling in my garage which were fire taped for code/safety. Prior to painting I used heavy duty fans to assist in the drying of the plaster for 1-2 weeks before applying this primer. I did 2 coats everywhere. This primer went on easily and adhered to the plaster walls way better than I expected. Would and will use again.

                    Great primer
Great primer, covers nicely even with just one layer, much better with two. Basically, no-odor which makes the job much manageable and easier, dries fast and the white in it is as beautifully bright as the white paint. Very happy with this primer.

                    Best exterior primer I've used.
I've used this # 436 Primer for years on various applications, and am amazed at how well it adheres. I once applied it to (plastic) house wrap that I had used temporarily on a leaky roof. The primer was still adhering when I removed the wrap 2 years later. For another application where the final colour was to be a middle grey, I got Home Depot to tint the batch a light grey (as dark as they would tint it). The can label used to say "Exterior"; this latest one now says "Interior/Exterior". Only complaint: The label's safety and usage directions are in a small font that's hard to read. Improvement sorely needed.
