[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have used acrylic latex paint including Behr on asphalt shingles without primer and the results were fine even 15 years after painting the roof white so see no need for a primer. My experience is that acrylic latex paint adheres very well to asphalt shingles and in addition, acts to hold the gravel to the shingle. Why does Behr recommend a primer? I have also thinned the first coat substantially to ensure that it it seeped between shingles since I have found the paint acts as an additional bond between shingles. Overall, I have found that painting shingles will add substantial life to them.

Garbage product
This product is terrible. It cannot withstand freezing temperatures as it says it can. My roof (metal roof). was done under a year ago and it’s already peeling ALL off and has to be redone. I highly do not recommend this product to anyone.

Hi DaniV, thank you for your review. I’m so sorry the paint is peeling off your metal roof after a year. To fix this, I recommend removing any loose paint, sanding smooth any edges, cleaning the surface, letting it dry, spot priming any bare metal with our Multi-Surface Primer No. 436, then touching up and recoating with our roof paint. Customer satisfaction is very important to us, and we appreciate your feedback. I’ll reach out to you directly to assist you with this further. Thank you again for taking the time to share your experience with us, and I hope to hear from you soon! -Joni

Hi HomeDepotCustomer,
Thank you for your review. I'm sorry to hear that the color didn't turn out as expected. Color swatches online may vary from screen to screen, so it's best to check out the paper swatch or purchase an 8 oz. sample for the most accurate representation of the color. For further assistance with this, please feel free to reach out to us directly. We'd be happy to help – Sara

The paint covers 277 sq ft per gallon max. It conceals well but two coats is necessary. The first time I used it I believed the drying time given so I painted 12 hours before the rain, it washed off. The second time it had days to dry. I'll have to see how long it lasts. Cleanup is easy with water
