Questions & Answers

Why is it still sticky after 3 days

Asked by: Bryan
I know this is late in the game BUT it might help someone in the future. When you paint with this paint or any paint -DO NOT allow anyone to boil water, cook using anything that puts out a lot of steam, and/or allow ventilation through the area overnight that will allow the “moist night air” to enter where you have painted. That sticky feeling on the surface will never go away if the paint was exposed to a “blast” or a subtle increase in moisture - it’s a water based product and you are breaking down the molecular density of what is to become its shell. Hope this helps....

do you need to use a primer before you paint with this product?

do you need to use a primer before you paint with this product?
Asked by: Di
Yes, The recommended primer is Behr #75 for interior projects and Behr #436 for exterior projects. The best applicator to use is Wooster Pro Nylon bristle brushes. You don't have to sand between coats, however if you don't use the best bristles for primer and you are not spraying the primer you might get brush strokes reflecting under the alkyd paint. Do not apply thick coats, as this may cause delay in dry time.

What is everyone using to apply this on cabinets with great results? Brush, foam roller, or 1/4 nap roller? I have unfinished cabinets that are prepped very well and used 2 coats of primer. All well sanded. I just purchased this paint and I'm not getting the expected results on the first few cabinets I painted using a very good brush, and a 4" 1/4 roller. I am seeing lots of brush lines still, and the 1/4 nap is not any better. Would foam roller works better?
Asked by: WkndWarrior
I have been using these brushes - Plaid 50557E Taklon Flat Brush with great results. I also have these strange foam rollers with some kind of fabric nap. Second choice to that roller would be the low nap 3/8" fabric roller.
