Q:The product description says, "Apply when temperatures are 35-90F and will remain between 35-90F for at least 4 hours after applying", but when I read the Q&A here about application temperature, Behr says it has to be at least 50F. Which is correct?

      Answer This Question

A:  Hi Fozwald, thank you for your question. Our Marquee Interior Paint has the temperature range of 50-90 degrees Fahrenheit. However, our Marquee Exterior Paint can be applied when air and surface temperatures are between 35-90 degrees Fahrenheit and will remain that way for at least 4 hours after applying. I hope this helps clear up any confusion. Good luck with your project! -Giovanna

Q:Can I use this paint on metal, such as runners on a sled ?

        Answer This Question

A:  Do not know as I only used it on wood.  Would assume there is an 800 number for Behr or perhaps a paint specialist at Home Depot could answer your question.

        by|Dec 2, 2022

A:  Hi Bobs, thanks for your question. While our Marquee Exterior paint can be applied to a metal surface, we don't recommend using it on sled runners as it may not last long. Instead, it's best to find a product designed specifically for sled runners from your local hardware store. Have a great day! -Christina

            1-gallon can failure
These new 1-gallon plastic containers don't have a good seal. The paint starts to form a film inside the can after the first time you open it, which comes out in clumps and lumps especially in the bottom half of the can. You have to remove dried clumps as you paint, which is frustrating. The "easy to use lid and pour spout" is supposed to help you pour more neatly and avoid the problem, but air still gets in around the edges. For more than $60, I would expect a decent can to store the paint in.

Hi Nathan, thanks for your review. I'm sorry to hear about the clumps and lumps in the container you used. To fix this, I recommend stirring the paint for 5-7 minutes to resolve the clumps. And if there are dried clumps on your project, you can sand these smooth, clean off the sanding dust, and touch up if needed. Customer satisfaction is very important to us, so feel free to reach out to our Customer Care team directly for further assistance. They are always happy to help. Enjoy the rest of your day. -Christina Behr

              Not a good match
When this paint dried, it did not look like the color advertised, it's very bright and not what I was wanting or expecting. I wish I had read the reviews, as others are saying the same thing.

Hi Natal - Thank you for reviewing our paint. I'm sorry to hear that this color dried a lot brighter than expected! I recommend making sure the color was mixed correctly by comparing the paper swatch for Mayan Treasure P490-7 to the dried paint dab on the lid of your paint can. If they match, the color is correct, and you may want to choose a new color to recoat your project with. It's also best to pick up an 8 oz. sample of your new color selection to test out before making a larger purchase. If the swatch and paint dab don't match up, the color may have been mixed incorrectly, and we recommend recoating with the correct color. So we can assist you with this further, please feel free to reach out to us directly. We hope to hear from you! – Sara Behr
                Benjamin Moore vs. Marquee
for the past few years i've used almost exclusively benjamin moore regal select for my paint projects. this is based on my own experience as well as info from professional painters (which i am not). I had some newly installed molding (primed pine) to paint around the house but my local benjamin moore store was closed so i picked up a gallon of the ultra white marquee semi-gloss. End result is fantastic. the paint is easy to apply and really bright - makes the trim pop. Bottom line: you get comparable results but Marquee is cheaper than regal select.

                  The worse paint ever!
I'm so disappointed with this paint. I should have read the reviews before I decided to try this terrible paint. I'm a craftsman and I hand crafted an Adirondack chair and then I primed it. I let the primer dry for a few days and then painted the chair with the Marquee semi gloss paint using a good quality roller. No matter how I applied this paint it didn't cover and I could see the white primer through the paint. After 3 days of waiting for it to dry it remained sticky. We can't even sit in the chair in fear of sticking to the paint. I feel I have just paid for paint that ruined my beautifully hand crafted Adirondack Chair. There is something drastically wrong with this paint. It's going to need a 2nd coat because the fist coat is so thin you can see through it. I'm so upset!

                  Response from BehrJan 25, 2021
Hello Anthony, thank you for sharing your feedback. We're sorry to hear you weren't satisfied with the Marquee paint you used; that's not the experience we want our customers to have with our products. Our Marquee paint should cover in one coat when applied to a previously coated surface, and is tinted to any color in the Marquee One Coat Collection palette. Colors outside the palette, and the untinted Ultra Pure White may require additional coats to provide you your desired coverage. To get your project back on track, we'd suggest increasing the ventilation in the space the chair is located and allowing it to dry longer. A recoat may be needed to uniform your color once the chair has dried a bit longer. Customer satisfaction is very important to us. Please feel free to reach out to our Customer Care team directly for assistance, or if you have any questions. They are always happy to help. Have a great rest of your day. –Joanna Behr

                    Worst paint on earth
I prepped my previously-painted surfaces (sanding, tsp) before using this horrid paint, which has turned me into the kind of person who takes the time out of her day to leave a review on PAINT. It was watery and didn’t cover properly—like painting on cellophane. It ran and left uncovered patches everywhere. I thought at first it was my surface but I tested a Sherwin Williams paint on the same wall and it went on fine. Never using Behr again. Photo shows white Behr on top and blue SW on bottom.

Hi CamCHS - Thank you for your review. I'm sorry to hear that the paint seemed so watery and left a patchy finish! Our Marquee paint should have a very creamy consistency and will cover your previously painted or primed surfaces in or coat when tinted to a color from our One-Coat Color Collection. If the paint still seems watery and transparent after stirring it for a few minutes, it's best to continue your project with a new can. We'd like to help you with this further. Please feel free to reach out to us directly. We look forward to hearing from you! - Sara Behr

                      Painters Tape Blue
I am really upset with how this color dried. It was a lot brighter than advertised and matched the blue painters tape we used perfectly. We will be painting over it next weekend because it’s not working for us.
