The BEHR Premium Solid Color Waterproofing Stain and Sealer is an advanced 100% acrylic formula that delivers all-weather protection from the elements for up to 10 years on decks and 25 years on fences and siding. The product is self-priming and delivers excellent protection from the sun's harmful UV rays. This stain will hide imperfections while allowing the wood texture to show through. This product is also great for composite decks.

Q:Can this stain be used on composite deck boards? I have heard that composite material will not hold stain or paint. Is this true? What product would be best to achieve a different color for exisitng composite decking? Thanks very much.

Love the color.
Just painted our deck Cordovan Brown and love the color. Not sure how long it will last will update the coment in a year or so. I do hope it lasts.

So far it's awesome!
After doing much review we went with this stain. We loved the way it covered and applied! We had old wood mixed with new wood and it all looks the same! Clean up was easy too! The deck boards do get hot because of the dark color but we never go barefoot. We did a two toned deck and for the railings and used the Transparent Weather proofing All-in-one wood finish in Natural. It turned out beautiful and get many compliments on it! The only reason we are not givng it a perfect score is because it is only a few months old. We need to see how it wears for a year. I did take the advice of the expert at the store. We sanded and stripped the wood first. New wood has a glaze from the mill on it. Be sure not to stain over it. The stain usually doesnt stay on. She also said to be sure to apply two coats. Everyone that has problems with it only applied one coat. Prep work is everything!

Fantastic!
I bought this to refresh my patio furniture and it was fantastic to work with! I had to give some areas a light sand then applied the stain sealer. It went on like a normal paint, dried super fast and looks fantastic!

Great choice for decks
Very good deck stain. Easy to apply with a roller , dries fast, and coverage is excellent. One thin coat looked great but after the second thin coat it looked fantastic!

WAIT a YEAR before reviewing this product.
BUYER BEWARE.
It looks beautiful when you first put it on.
1 YEAR LATER:
PEELING, even in areas with no sun or traffic.
Decks were prepped before applying this product and waited for proper temperature, etc.
I think what BEHR needs to do is STOP CALLING THIS PRODUCT A STAIN.
It DOES NOT stain wood. It’s just like paint, and BAD QUALITY paint as well.
I’ve seen responses from BEHR, and their solution is to DO JUST ABOUT THE SAME WORK ALL OVER AGAIN?
No thanks. Never again.

Best product!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I uss this regularly on new and old decks! Adhesion of this product is incredibly important. Can go over old stains or even latex paints without primer as long as its prepped properly. This product will withstand any weather conditions year after year. Key is to up keep seasonal maintenance!

Poor Quality
Very disappointed with this Behr solid stain product. Did all the correct preparation and it started peeling the first year and looks horrible after second year.
I have used Behr paint products for years, but after this experience I will be looking at other choices.

not good
i bought this about 10 months ago. there happened to be a behr representitive there at the time, i wish i wouldn't have listened to him. i was going to buy the 5 gallon can but he told me 3-4 gallons would be plenty, i bought 4 and had to come back for another( more money). i followed the instructions on the can and his , now i'm looking at a lot of peeling and bare spots in NON-traffic areas.
