Questions & Answers

I did our fence in semi transparent in padre brown. Not really liking it and thinking about going solid color in the spring. I would use the same color just different finish. What prep would I have to do to complete.

Answer This Question

I would sand the current finish and apply new color/finish, but I believe the orig finish will blend with new color and may not like . If current finish is solid, then sand, apply new color. New color should cover old. AI may be a different approach. ??

Hi Kathryn, thanks for reaching out. You can certainly apply our Premium Solid Color Stain over the semi-transparent stain. To prepare the surface, simply clean with our All-In-One Wood Cleaner and allow to dry. Then, you can apply the solid color stain following the spread rates. If you need more help, feel free to reach out to us directly. Have a great day! -Christina

      Can you use foam rollers

      Answer This Question

Hi Guido, thanks for reaching out with your question. When applying our Solid Color Waterproofing Stain & Sealer, we don’t recommend using a foam roller. Instead, I can suggest using a high-quality nylon/polyester brush, a 3/8” nap roller, a pad applicator, or an airless sprayer using a .015-.019 tip and a 60-mesh filter. Good luck with your project! -Angie

I applied one coat of Cedar Naturaltone a year ago. I intend to redcoat with Chocolate Semi-transparent. Is two thin coats still necessary or will one coat be sufficient?

                    I Love the Results
I bought this a few months ago and worked on my deck ever since. Due to heat and weather, I had a lot of breaks in between. I was hesitate at first because this is the first time I have used the solid stain and I thought the color was too orange. ( I always used Behr semi-tranparent before.) But since my deck is 30 years old, I was told I should use solid. Well, after alot of hard work, since I have 300 spindles and lots of lattice work, I finally finished and I really like the results. I hope it lasts 10 years.

We have a five year old cedar wood garage. It was completely grunged out by wet windy Winter weathers. We did some pressure washing and then applied BEHR PREMIUM #ST-533. The garage is 20 by 20. And now it looks b rand new.

                      Beware of Cedar Colar
This review is for Behr #SC-533 Cedar Naturaltone Solid Color Waterproofing Exterior Wood Stain and Sealer - specifically Cedar Naturaltone color. We applied this over a previously stained clean dry cedar wood deck surface. After the stained surface dried, the product had dried to a bright pumpkin orange. The color was not close to the advertised tome.

This product is good quality. However, if you are using a pray gun, please dilute with water. It is so thick that it clogs the gun. Also you will double your quantity.

Nice color. It might be more "redwood" than chocolate would lead you to believe but I like it. Stays mixed.

Currently staining my home with this padre brown. Love the color, love how easy it soaks into the wood. Very easy and great to work with. Comes off easy with soap and water too!

Everybody on social media says this isn’t Redwood color! They say, “barn red”, “fire engine red”, everything thing but Redwood! But my wife loves it, so I’m okay with it.
