Nice color and easy to use. I stained my deck after replacing the wood last fall.

I’ve always trusted Behr interior paints but this is the END for anything exterior. This semitransparent is sticky after three days. Some of its already peeling and the furniture is leaving marks. I’m so disappointed and it was so expensive.
Sticky after three days

Hi there, thank you for the review. Sorry to hear that the stain is still sticky after three days. Typically it takes at least 3 days for the stain to completely cure and be ready for furniture and heavy foot traffic. I'd recommend waiting a week if the stain is still tacky. I'd recommend cleaning a small area with soap and water to see if it removes the tackiness. If so, continue to clean the entire deck, If the deck is still tacky, it may need longer to dry, but the tackiness should go away on its own. When first applied it looks like composite vlumber, really pretty. Behr is a good product.
This product doesn't last near as long as advertised. It only lasted barely 2 years but it does look awesome when applied. I used the cleaner it recommended and followed the directions. I have put 2 more coats on this year so I'm hoping it last more than 2 years. When first applied it looks like composite lumber, really pretty. Behr is a good product.

Treatment and bees
Went on nicely and wnd coat was beautiful, but a week later I experienced wood boring bees on deck rail! I thought treatment would protect my deck?

Didn’t last one winter
I was super disappointed to find that when the snow finally melted off my deck that this product had started to flake off, not even 1 year after I applied it. I spent 10-15 hrs sanding my deck down and applying this “stain” only to have it not even last a year. Needless to say I was unhappy. Behr will leave your deck bare.

Hi Mike. Thank you for your review. I'm so sorry the stain is flaking off already after the snow melted. If the flaking is isolated to only small areas, I recommend removing any loose stain, cleaning with our All-In-One Wood Cleaner, letting the surface dry, then touching up with stain and applying a thin coat across the board for uniformity. But if the flaking is widespread, it's best to fully remove the stain, clean, and reapply the 2 coats of stain. Customer satisfaction is very important to us, and we appreciate your feedback. Please feel free to reach out to our Customer Care team directly for further assistance. Our team is happy to help you! -Joni Behr

    Color changes as you apply
Even stirring it well by the time I got to the bottom of the can the pigment changed completely. I will have to redo the entire porch again. Looks terrible. I am very disappointed

Hello Db2haacker, thank you for your review. I’m so sorry the stain was a different color at the bottom of the can. I recommend removing the stain, cleaning with our All-In-One Wood Cleaner, letting the surface dry, then reapplying the stain and stirring the stain in the can occasionally during application. Customer satisfaction is important to us, and we appreciate your feedback. Please feel free to reach out to our Customer Care team directly for further assistance with this. The color on the screen and can is not accurate. It's far more orange-red in the light.
My deck was stained with Behr solid acrylic in Chocolate some years ago by a previous owner. Had a couple cans in the basement dating to 2016. To Behr's credit, those cans were still fresh and usable. At first, I didn't realize the Chocolate cans in the basement were the same as the deck finish, because the deck is a muted orange-red color - not brown at all. I tested the Chocolate on a board I removed and I couldn't believe that it was the same color as the deck. I thought it was the brown used for the supports. I don't recommend this color if you want something in the brown family. See my photo comparing the previous "Chocolate" stain to Behr's Cordovan Brown that I applied over it.

I've always trusted Behr water sealant for my deck, and I'm so glad I stuck with it when I had my pergola stained. I used the same Behr ST (semi transparent) Chocolate on my fence and other wood that looked so great I just had to have the same done for my pergola. Behr really helped transform my wood from old to nearly new! (I did a separate 5 star review re my fence)
