Q:Instructions say you can use spray gun - must to be able to deliver 0.5 gpm? I don't even know if they make a spray gun with that output. I have a Graco Pro17 professional whole house painting unit and that does not deliver that. Is this an error?

Answer This Question

A:  Hi MrFixit, thanks for your question. Yes, our DryPlus Basement & Masonry Waterproofer requires an airless sprayer that can deliver at least 0.5 GPM. You can check with your local hardware store for other sprayer recommendations that have this capability. Alternatively, you can use a brush or roller to apply this paint. Have a great day! -Christina

      Answer This Question

A:  Hi Alphono, thank you for your question. When applying the Dry Plus Basement & Masonry Waterproofer below grade, we recommend ensuring the surface is clean and dry, and any holes or cracks are properly patched using fast-setting hydraulic cement, which is best. Have a great day! - Randy

Q:Will this work on the joint between the basement wall and basement floor? In very heavy rains, I get a small leakage, enough to cause very shallow puddles (less than 1/4" deep).

        Answer This Question

A:  Hi there, thanks for the question. I wouldn't recommend using the Dry Plus Waterproofer to block the leak that you have where the floor and ceiling meet. I'd recommend checking with you local home improvement store for an appropriate product. Have a great day! -Ronald

I have done a lot of painting and did not care for this paint. Next time, I will just use a block sealer. I used 4-5 coats and you could still see the pits in the block (not sealed over). Not a fan!

Great product for a basement! Our basement needed an update. Used this to paint the exterior walls. Really brightened up the space and added an extra layer of moisture protection. Really pleased with how it turned out. We just used a roller and it took two coats.

Applied with airless sprayer. Covered well, seems to be doing a good job of both liquid and water vapor intrusion inhibition. About one month into it. Way easier to apply than Drylok et al. Minimal bleed from existing stains. Prepped by scrubbing with TSP and rinsing. Probably could have used an additional gallon (used two.) Block was thirsty.

The Waterproof Paint was just the right texture to put on my basements walls and after the first coat I was throughly surprised to see the results. Two coats required and after the second coat it looked great. Made the cellar look great. Thanks for a great product.

I just used this on my stone wall below surface. I followed all of the directions. It seems to be working very well. I was just wondering though. There is a bit of a discolor coming threw in a couple of spots. I read all of the other responses that BEHR has put on to other persons questions and they said that it would work on the stone. This was the first time this has been done and it has made a considerable difference.

            Tough paint
I didn't do a whole lot of surface prep for a clean are block basement wall. Scraped it with a stiff brush and put on 1 thick layer with with a cheap brush with a few touch ups afterward. Some of the block was very slightly damp from condensation and it was no problem to paint over it. I just put a fan on it and it dried in no time. It was easy to apply, went on easily but not too drippy either. After a week or so I tested the adhesion with a wire brush and it took a lot of hard scraping to get through the layer of paint. It cleans up and touches up easily. There was a very slight ammonia smell but I had no problem painting indoors for hours with this paint. Its great if you can ventilate the area but it does not smell strong.

Works to waterproof basement walls IF you follow directions
Surface must be clean and dry - any moisture or efflorescence and it won't adhere, no paint will. You also need to solve leak source - paint won't stop a flood. I used it on a leaky basement laundry room. 1st redirected downspouts and graded soil away from house. Then cleaned interior bsmt walls with UGL etch. Spent 2 weeks with dehumidifier drying out walls to bone dry. Skimmed with Sacrete surface bonding cement and let dry completely (another 2 weeks). Two coats of Behr waterproofer and basement has been dry for a year - had been damp for 20! Take your time, follow instructions, and this is a great deal. BUT you need to solve your leak source whether drainage/grading or water supply/downspout. Wife wanted it tinted slate blue (over my objections) and must admit she was right, color looks good. Also have used this under foam board insulation when finishing basements.
