Don’t waste your money on this.
It’s does not work as good as other companies. It barely removed any old paint and left white reside all over the deck. Wasted 20$ on this. Do not buy this product

Hello Johnny, thank you for your review. I’m so sorry our wood stripper didn’t remove the old paint. Typically, our wood stripper can remove sealers, waterproofers, and 100% acrylic latex finishes. I recommend reapplying the wood stripper, leaving it on the surface for 30-40 minutes while maintaining a wet surface, then scrubbing with a stiff bristle broom once the coating starts to lift and rinsing the surface with water. Thoroughly rinsing the surface should help to remove all residue and prevent it from leaving a residue again. Customer satisfaction is important to us, and we appreciate your feedback. Please feel free to reach out to our Customer Care team directly for further assistance with this. Our team is happy to help you! -Joni Behr

      Ineffective product
I think for the value, this product cost 9x more than a bottle and it's marginally better. It's very ineffective. I have followed the instructions the t and it produces very little result. This would be a waste of time and money, trust me. Go with some other paint stripper solution and would recommend to buy it online with 4 or higher stars rated solution.

My pressure washer did a better job by itself
Two 2 hour coats on a 10x10 spot on my deck that was already peeling and it barely made a difference. My pressure washer did more damage to the old paint than the stripper did. Save your money and buy a belt sander.

Hi Steve, thank you for your review. I'm sorry to hear that the stripper did not remove the stain. This is not the way we expect our products to perform, and I understand your disappointment. The product should start to deteriorate the coating after 5-45 minutes. Customer satisfaction is important to us, and we appreciate your feedback. Please reach out to us directly if you need further assistance; our customer care team is happy to help you! -Giovanna Behr
Excellent product, cleaned my deck as good as new.
I was not sure if this product would clean our deck since it hade an average 3 star review. I decided to give it a try anyway. Let me tell you, this is a great product and far exceeded my expectatios. If some one tells you this product does not work, I believe the cleaning recommendations were not correctly done as per the directions. The product description says that the deck can be washed clean with a garden hose, but this did not work for me. I had to power wash rhe deck after applying the stripper, and at some locatons I had to keep the nozzle very close to the deck to remove the stubborn stains. But the product worked and I am thoroughly satisfied. See the photo attached to get an idea of the before and after condition of our deck.

Follow the instructions + use pressure washer
I felt compelled to write a review after reading the mixed feedback on the product. Overall, I had good results. The only reason I'm not giving it 5 stars is that the instructions don't say you HAVE to use a pressure washer and I disagree. The only way you will get decent results is with a pressure washer so don't try this if you don't have the right equipment. I had a nice overcast morning, applied the product using a 3/4" nap roller, misted it once or twice during the 45 minute wait time and then used my pressure washer to blast off the finish. I'll still end up sanding the deck as part of my prep but this product did most of the work.

              All around bad choice
This product didn't do its job at all. We ended up having to sand after using this product. We followed the directions to a T. Still barely removed the stain.

              Hi Unsatisfied,

Thank you for reviewing Behr Wood Stain & Finish Stripper. I'm very sorry to hear that it didn't end up working out, as that's not the performance we've come to expect from our products.

If the coating is still in good condition, using one gallon for every 50 sq. ft. should help tremendously. We also recommend testing the wood stain stripper in a small area to ensure that it'll lift the coating before moving forward.

Customer satisfaction is very important to us, and I encourage you to contact Behr directly for further assistance. We'd love to learn more about your experience and find the best way to help.

              Kindest regards,

              Doris Behr
                It works!!
Works great!!!! Put it on thick and let it sit for at least 30 min. Then hit it with the pressure washer. I would absolutely recommend and use this product again.

                  left the deck wood black
Tried it on old redwood deck. Cleaned first, sanded than applied this to remove rest of old oil stain (TWP). The trial boards turned black. Pitch black. One board that I have just experimentally treated with Cabot stain (which did not took - second board from the left) was somewhat saved. You can see the comparison with untreated board to the right.

                  Hi mbk,

Thank you for reviewing Behr Premium Wood Stain & Finish Stripper. I'm sorry to see that the redwood darkened. Redwood has a high level of tannins that may have risen to the surface, causing the wood to darken. Cleaning the surface with Behr All-in-One Wood Cleaner should help neutralize the wood and bring back its color.

Please contact Behr's Customer Care Department for further assistance with this matter. We'd love to find a way to help.

                  Kindest regards,

                  Doris Behr

                    It works
The stuff works I didn't waste my time with a brush Put it on heavy and let it sit for 30 minutes keeping it moist Then used a 3200 psi pressure washer In 2 applications it removed multiple layers of all the same completely Because the deck was over 20 years went back with a Behr Premium solid color stain Homeowner is thrilled with the finish product
