        Answer This Question

Hi Glenn, thanks for the question. Our Urethane Alkyd Enamel is formulated to perform like an oil-based paint, but is water-based. And the Cabinet, Door & Trim Enamel is also water-based. One benefit to our Cabinet, Door & Trim Paint it cures in about 7 days vs the Urethane Alkyd Enamel takes about 30 days to fully cure. If you have additional questions about your project, please reach out to us directly. Our customer care team is happy to help. -Ronald

          Answer This Question

Hi Federico, thank you for your question. The Cabinet, Door and Trim Paint is water-based. The semi-gloss finish is a glossy finish and the highest sheen available for this product. Have a great day! -Giovanna

            Answer This Question

Hey Jude, thank you for your question. We recommend scuff sanding the cabinets if they're glossy, as that can make it tough for coatings to adhere. Have a great day! -Lina

                  Will not use again!
I hope I don’t regret using this! Painting for over 25 yrs & usually use BM paint especially for woodwork but customer had some Behr white for their trim was all I was told so tried this. Brand new primed 2-panel doors, easy to paint but need THREE COATS to cover primed MDF , really?? Decent leveling but that’s it. Paint is very thin & not easy to brush smoothly because of that. It also had hairline cracks where casing was caulked a full day earlier. That often happens with flat ceiling paint but never had that happen with any BM paint that has sheen to it, never!! This stuff is crap, use at own risk!!

Hi Lynch, thank you for taking the time to leave a review. I'm sorry to hear you did not get the expected coverage. This is not the experience we want for our customer, and I understand your disappointment. Before application, it is recommended to prime all prepped, coated, and uncoated surfaces for best results. Then, after, it typically covers in 2 coats. Customer satisfaction is important to us, and we appreciate your feedback. Please reach out to us if you need further assistance; we are always happy to make things right. -Alex Behr

                    Cannot Get smooth and Even
I’ve been remodeling for nearly 40 years and have never used trim paint worse than this $55 bucket of garbage. Uneven sheen, brush marks that will not go away and a “Gumminess” with the paint that is impossible to get smooth. It’s been brushed, rolled and we’ve even added extender trying to get more workable time and no success. 2800 square foot house with trim that all needs to be sanded, re-taped and redone with real trim paint from Sherwin, PPG or Ben Moore. I opted for the convenience of getting paint from a one stop shop and sadly regret my decision:-(

Hi DN823, thank you for taking the time to leave a review. I'm so sorry to hear about the trouble you experienced with our Cabinet, Door & Trim Paint. That is not the experience we want for our customers, and I understand how frustrating this may be. If drying too fast, while we do not recommend thinning with an extender, you can add up to 4 oz of water per gallon to help extend the working time, to help get a smooth finish. Customer satisfaction is important to us, and we appreciate your feedback. Please reach out to us directly so we can assist you further; we're always happy to help make this right! -Alex Behr

                      White paint turning yellow
Bought this white cabinet paint only for my cabinets to turn yellow a few months later even after priming first. I also used this paint next to a water based white paint and the water base held up in color. However, there's a stark contrast between the white water base paint and the now yellowed cabinet paint. Initially, I thought it was an inexpensive all base paint I was using that was turning my cabinets yellow, and then I went back and bought several cans of this paint only to realize this was the culprit the whole time. Note, the property was vacant 3 months and yellowed right before a tenant came. That's not even 2 months!

Hi Demi, thank you for your review. I'm terribly sorry to hear that your cabinet color has changed, and in such short time too! That is not typical, and certainly not the experience we want for our customers. Your project is important to us, and we're here to help you achieve positive results. While colors can change with time and weathering, it's odd that this happened within 2 months. To fix the issue, I recommend priming the cabinets with our Kitchen, Bath & Trim Primer. Then recoat the surface for uniformity. While it's hard to determine what exactly caused this shift in color, using a non-yellowing paint can help maintain the look of the surface. We want you to be happy with your project. Please reach out to us directly so we can learn more about your project and assist you further. We hope to hear from you soon! -Lina Behr

                        This is now my go-to
I used this to paint a wardrobe for my daughter's room. The materials were sanded plywood and an old laminated Ikea wardrobe. I primed with Kilz first and did a light sanding with 400 grit before applying the paint. It went on beautifully. Awesome coverage, I did not expect to have so much left over. Fast forward 4 months. I need to touch up my metal door. I prepped before realizing that I was out of that paint. Now I am committed and annoyed - I was not expecting to spend the time or money to completely repaint the door. Then I remembered the cabinet paint and was happy to see it was rated for exterior use. Again, it went on beautifully. Since I have a brush going, I circled back to my daughter's room expecting there to be some needed touch ups. I couldn't find any! Four months of her banging her shoes, dropping stuff on the shelves, etc. and not one ding! I can't speak to the durability on the door yet, but I am very happy with the first project. I have attached a pic of the wardrobe. That used just shy of 1/2 gallon, 2 coats over everything. It is over 7' tall about 5' wide.

It is a high quality paint, which goes on extremely well,a super bright white, is a hard durable finish, and cleans up easily on brushes. I highly recommend it!

Amazing durability /needs multi coats .
I just used this Bher cabinet paint in the shade Broadway on my super old interior bedroom and closet door . The finshed result isn’t amazing but that’s mostly because the house is super old, I didn’t have time to prep the surface as well as I would have liked mainly because the previous owners slathered the everything in the house in gallons of paint and they didn’t do the best job either and also because the doors really probably just need to be replaced . Due to theee factors and because the doors were in once a teen’s bedroom and had some neon paint and friends names written on them years and years ago . So I would have liked to have replaced the doors but I don’t know how to do all that and I figured slapping some paint on would be the quickest fix just to make things look better than it was . So I am happy with the end result . I must say I also have never painted cabinets apt doors before so I was not familiar with this type of paint . I had actually thought I was doing something wrong because it seemed like when I first put the paint on it seemed it was no adhering and whenever I’d apply some it would come up in spots that I rolled over awhile applying . I had also prior to painting used a bondinb primer (this is nkt a typical primer it was a clear primer which is used to almost seal the surface to keep the previous coats of paint from peeling or chipping and so the new coat has a better surface for the application to avoid that from peeling in the future ) the doors are super old and all the old paint layers are Luke have been too much to remove but a good bit of it was just falling off and peeling off like butter prior to applying the primer so I felt it was necessary to use something since I did not strip or sand the surface of paint prior and due to it chipping. (The bondimn primer I used was Zinssers clear peel stop clear bonding primer) I thought the primer was causing the paint to seem like it was not adhering properly but i believe it is just this type of paint needs more than one coat or multiple coats at least 2 , it was a very thick paint as well and slippery maybe because I used semi gloss . But it threw me off so just a heads up to anyone using this it takes a few coats to achieve full coverage , I am not super thrilled with the way the closet door turned out I had thought that maybe it I used a paint brush on the whole surface it would give it a better coverage but i think i prefer the look of the foam roller application Because the brush did apply it super thick where as the roller gave it a thinner more even finish so I orefer the way the finish came out on the first door as opposed to the closest door but overall I’m not going crazy . I just wanted to slap some paint on to camp things up and this definitely did the job and it does provide a very thick durable finish that I think will hold I’m up very well in high traffic areas for years to come for anyone who is concerned about that . Overall I’m happy with the result given my situation and circumstances and would highly recommend this paint .

Paint - 5 stars. Delivery not so much.
I am sure to use up the paint - what's left of it, after FedEx spilled it during "delivery". I never had any problems with Behr paints. I always have issues with FedEx. See for yourself.

                              DISAPPOINTMENT- TIME WASTED!
After two weeks, already chipping and peeling where you’d expect high use areas. I have older children but even so, we’ve been careful and it’s still coming off (started day 2!) I’ve used other brands in the past and regretting the hours it took me of unnecessary steps to complete the cabinets with this junk!! DO NOT BUY! Use Rustoleum instead. PS…how in the world is this product getting such a high overall rating?? Just look at the most recent reviews!

                                Absolute garbage
We used this paint for the cabinety that we custom built in the summer of 2024 and within mere weeks it was rubbing off on the most heavily used cabinet handles. We are 2 grown adults over the age of 50 with no children and very careful about this investment since we spend hundreds of hours designing, building and painting these ourselves. I'm absolutely disgusted by the quality of this pain and how quickly all our hours of work we're wasted because we now have to repaint, with a better quality paint, please avoid at all costs. The stuff is pure garbage and will not survive a heavily used home. Please go anywhere else to get your paint if you need durability and quality. You will not find it in this new Behr paint.
