Q:How much Granite Grip paint do I need for a 14'x30' concrete patio? Is it necessary to use two coats?
by|May 20, 2024

Answer This Question

A:  Hi Awilda, thank you for your question. Based on 420 square feet, you'll need 9 gallons to apply two coats of the Granite Grip. Two coats are required, as by design, the first coat will not cover well, and can look blotchy. However, the second coat will provide better coverage, and additional coats can be applied as needed. Good luck with your project! -Giovanna

A:  Hi Johnny, thanks for the question. If the cracks or 1/8" or smaller, they can be filled with the Granite Grip Coating. Otherwise, I'd recommend checking with your local home improvement store for a recommendation. Have a great day! -Ronald

Hi Steph, thank you for your review. I'm sorry to hear about the peeling and chipping on your project! To fix this, I recommend sanding the edges of leftover Granite Grip with 80-grit sandpaper. Then, clean and etch any bare concrete before touching up and applying a full cover for color uniformity (if needed).Customer satisfaction is important to us, and we'd like to help get your project back on track. Please feel free to reach out to us directly so we can further assist. We look forward to hearing from you! -Christina Behr
I really have no complaints about this product. It covered beautifully and filled in small cracks. Here are before and after pictures. No complaints!

            Sent wrong color
The material itself is a good quality. They sent the correct material. However it was the wrong color which sets the project back two weeks. So be aware with ordering online that they make mistakes that cause collateral damage. The boxes that the material came in as well as the sticker on top of the box said what I ordered but the actual product itself was a different color.

              Horrible coverage
I wish I could rate this at 0 stars, I chose this over the Concrete and Garage 1 part epoxy (horrible mistake) in fact I rate this one of the worst decisions in my life. I am now hundreds of dollars down the drain and will most likely have to get this product professionally removed. The coverage is horrible, after mixing the product begins to dry very rapidly making spreading the product next to impossible. My garage is 380 sq/ft 5g did not cover. All prep work was completed properly.

Hi Trav, thank you for your review. I'm very sorry to hear about the trouble you've had with your coverage and your poor experience with our Granite Grip. I want to assure you that your satisfaction is important to us, and we want to help get your project back on track. Our Granite Grip should cover an average of 50 sq. ft. with two coats per gallon. To achieve the best coverage, we recommend pouring the product directly from the can onto your floor in 12" strips. Then, use an adhesive roller while applying little to no pressure to roll that out across 3'x3' sections. For 380 sq. ft., you should need about 4 gallons per coat. This product requires two coats for uniformity, as the first may appear blotchy. I recommend letting the surface dry for 3-4 hours before recoating the floor. I can understand your disappointment, and I appreciate your feedback. Please reach out to us directly if you need further assistance; our Customer Care team is happy to help! -Lina Behr

                Stay away from this product!!!!!
I have spent over 2k on this product to do my steps and driveway. Granite grip did not last 3-4 month before it starts pilling off. I have done 4 coats not 2 as advertising. I have follow all steps as recommended. This product may be good for interior finish. Definitely would not recommend outside . As a final result I need to replace all of my concrete now and spend additional 10k. I’m sure Granite grip nor Home Depot will not pay that bill.

Hi Euro2024, thank you for the review. I’m sorry to hear that our Granite Grip Floor Coating took more product than expected and started peeling after 3-4 months. I can understand your disappointment since the coating didn't last as expected. Customer satisfaction is very important, and our Customer Care team is on standby and ready to help. Please contact us directly so we can further assist you with a resolution. In the meantime, to fix the issue I recommend removing the loose coating by either power washing or sanding, then etching the bare concrete. After the surface is etched and clean, apply our Concrete & Masonry Bonding Primer and re-apply the Granite Grip Floor coating. Again, our Customer Care team would like to hear from you to see how we can help. -Ronald Behr
                  Worst product ever!!!
Do NOT use! It will frustrate you and mess your deck up. Horrible coverage and if you get a 5gal it will not color match to the one gallon. It bubbles, leaves the pool deck slick and dangerous. Worst part is BEHR won’t take any responsibility for faulty products.

                    Do not buy this product
The coverage says 2 coats but it requires much more to not look splotchy & a total mess! We are furious that we ruined a completely new wooden floor applying this product. We should’ve used a regular paint.

Hi Christie, thank you for your review. I'm sorry to hear that you needed to apply more than two coats so the coating wouldn't look splotchy. I wanted to point out that Granite Grip isn't recommended for wood floors; it is only recommended for concrete. Customer satisfaction is very important, and our Customer Care team is on standby and ready to help. Please contact us directly so we can further assist you with a resolution. Our garage looks like a checker board. Lite and darker squares. We bought 13 gallons and paid good money to have it come out looking like that. This doesn’t meet our expectations.
