Will this adhere/bond to wood surfaces?

Asked by DCS April 30, 2021

Yes, this paint will adhere to wood, but the adherence to wood would not be tenacious and could likely peel with minimal mechanical friction.

what primer do i need on a previously painted stucco home that i want to use the elastomeric paint with?

If the previously painted stucco has not peeled or flaked and is in good shape, you likely do not require a primer. I would test a small area with new paint for compatibility to be absolutely sure.

I need exterior paint for all whether condition

The Behr Elastomeric paint might work very well on a house subject to an oceanfront environment. Please keep in mind that you will need at least two coats of this paint. Although this paint is intended for stucco, it will work well on wood or cement fiber siding. It should be noted that caulking all of the seems in the exterior of the home with polyurethane caulk such as Home Depot's Loctite Brand will also materially contribute to the long run durability of the paint on such a home.

Thicker than normal paint
I used this on a 12'x10' shed I built 25 years ago which was the last time I painted it. I used T1-11 siding that has been baking in the Arizona sun. I used a 1 1/4 inch thick roller and a brush for the seams. This was not an easy task as the first coat soaked in. Definitely do 2 coats rolling in all directions, up and down, side to side, and even on a 45 degree angle really working the paint in. This picture was of the east side of the shed and definitely the worst. This side I did 3 coats to really fill in all the little cracks.

BEST PAINT EVER for EXTERIOR STUCCO
I am on my second house to use this paint - my first house looks like it was painted yesterday and it was about 8 years ago. I can hose it down (not even pressure clean it) and it cleans and shines again. I had it color matched to BEHR ADIRONDACK BLUE but at 50%. The original was just too dark. People stop their car and tell me how much they love the house color (and everyone is painting on the street now). Before and after attached.

My husband and I purchased the Behr elastomeric paint to repaint the exterior of our house. We were very pleased with the ease of rolling it on the walls and how well it filled the minor cracks in our stucco. Clean up was even easier than any other paint we have used in the past. We would highly recommend Behrs elastomeric paint to everyone.

Behr elastomeric paint is great stuff.
i bought this paint but i read most of the reviews before and i have to say, i had mixed feelings about the paint. i also wanted to spray it with my Graco magnum prox 17 but the pain label says to use a paint tip between 21 to 25 i believe. well i bought two 5gals buckets to paint the exterior stucco of a rental house we have in banning ca. the label also said to paint between the the temps of 50 to 90 and it was a cold day in banning at about 52 as its high and went on thick and smooth as it should. this is a 78 yr old house and its stucco was at the point of having to redo it but we decided to try this paint and we are happy. i sprayed it with my graco prox17 spray gun and as you may know this gun can only go to a 17 max tip and it did a 1100 sqft house at max pressure. i caked it on where there was cracks in the stucco and it really did seal those well. i put a 517 tip on my gun and it did leave light signs of fingers but i just went over them on the second pass. i also bought a darker color to paint the chimney.
