How hot will this get? Will it be too hot to the foot on a Florida pool deck?
Asked by: JFL
I just applied to pool deck last week took 3 coats and in about 8hrs of direct sunlight no clouds on a 90'day I could just about stand it bare foot, I measured 126' on a infrared thermometer and that was the tan color pretty much no change compared to older tan regular cement paint that was on pool deck previously. Don't paint your final roll in a straight line use a cross hatch or you will get lines that will show when dry

Can it cover concrete stairs?

Our front porch has 3 steps. The roof overhang is about 3 feet. It is on the north side of our home; the strong winds come from the south and would not be a factor. The vertical rise is 7 1/2 inches for each step. Even if not recommended, could you provide guidance on how to make the Granite Grip stick to the vertical surfaces? Thanks.
Asked by: Jeff
yes, it works very well on steps.

5 gal. #GG-13 Pebble Sunstone Decorative Flat Interior/Exterior Concrete Floor Coating is rated 3.5 out of 5 by 1785.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Job! We painted our front steps with this to make our entryway look complete. It gave an elegant look to the steps. I taped around the railing and along the brick with painter's tape to keep a neat edge. The consistency is that of cream of what so there is a learning curve to its application. I followed the instructions to the letter. I took the can to the store and had it mixed the evening before I was going to use it. Very pleased with the results so far. There's a lot of detailed reviews and I am sure mine will not get read, but hopefully someone will learn from our experience. First off, this product is amazing, it has stood the test of time and looks just as good now as it did when we applied it 4yrs ago. Few tips...more or less in order of application... 1) MAKE sure to etch, neighbor overlooked this and they've had a mess ever since...but hey, they knew better than me ;) if you do not take the time to prep then don't blame the product or the neighbor who told you what he used... 2) Let the concrete FULLY dry after cleaning it and I'd stay away from pressure washing it (note they don't recommend that anywhere?) Garden hose, deck brush and elbow grease is all that is needed...also important to rinse and scrub the concrete 3x to ensure the acid is washed out and surfaced is roughed up. 3) Allow the first coat to properly adhere to the concrete (I suggest 12-24hrs) the additional coats you can stick with the manufacturer's recommendation of 3-4hrs, but you want to make sure that first coat is adhered to the concrete. We followed the 3-4hrs recommendation in the back, and were more patient in the front, and I can tell you with certainty that this helps. 4) Apply the first coat thin, you need to fight that inner voice saying "this looks like crap, go thicker". The first coat WILL look like crap and if it doesn't then you did something VERY wrong. 5) I don't care if you're a Pro or DIY'er this will take 3-4 coats, not 2, we did 4 and it looks like something out of magazine (it looked pretty good after 3... but I am a little "Type A"). It is just like anything - take the time and do it right the first time...because you know what? It's going to take you less time going slow once (waiting between coats and prepping right), then having to go out there and trying to fix it over and over and over...until you move or put a carpet down. If you don't do it right the first time, and follow the directions, then don't angrily go to your computer and slam a superior product. If you read this, then I hope that my experience may help you with your project....and you can ignore the 1 star reviews, outside of maybe needing 25-40% more than what is recommended, this product is amazing.

We spent over $1200 on purchasing this for our back patio and it's been nothing but a pain since day 1! Foremost, it's just a layer of cover once it dries out. Every time it rained, it would get bubbles underneath and it would smell of mold within a couple of days. It does not allow the concrete underneath to breath and the concrete stays wet as long as this stuff is on top of it. My husband re-did the bubblying portions twice and still to no avail. The bubbles kept coming back after every rain. The moldy smell just seemed to get worse every time it rained. This stuff should be banned and the truth should be told as to not make us waste this much money on something completely useless and that causes further damage to our concrete and to our lives. My husband and twins have really bad allergy issues and the moldy smell this stuff caused has been nothing but a pain. We decided to strip the entire patio of this junk. I am attaching photos as proof. It sure would be nice to get a full refund on this terrible product!

This stuff does work and it looks great if you follow the instructions. You absolutely must use an adhesive roller or sprayer for this. I rolled my coats on and it worked fine but you do have to learn how to be light with the pressure on the roller. This is very thick material and you should not try and spread it too thinly or it will be uneven. The second coat makes it really even out and look good. If you get splatter on something remove it immediately. I got some on a wall and I had to slice it off with a razor blade. Your mileage may vary, but it took me 15 gallons to do 2 coats on a 2 car garage. If your concrete is outdoors, remember that compromised concrete is not going to work well with any top coat product. For example, if water seeps up cracks in your concrete you should seal or fix that before applying any top coat material. The only reason I won't give this 5 stars is that it seems to take a lot of it to get the job done.

I used this on my balcony which was about 10 foot by 50 foot and I had to use two of the 5 gallon buckets. At $220 a 5 gallon bucket, its the most expensive 5 gallon bucket in the store, but it was the only thing I could do on my balcony since I had eurotile that was chipping. I used a standard grey concrete patch, pressure washed the patio, and then used this granite grip. It is a dark tan with lots of gray in it as well so it blended the tan colored eurotile along with the grey patch perfectly. I did all the work myself even using a brush in and around railings and I had to use 3 coats to get the look I wanted. But it dried super fast, you can recoat in a few hours. It was easy to roll on, it comes premixed, easy to clean up with just water. So far so good! My only reason I did not give 5 stars is the price almost made me not purchase it. But I had gotten a quote of $2500 to fix the eurotile so out the door I redid the whole patio for $500 instead!

I applied this product in June 2017 on my garage floor after following all of the instructions from a Behr rep inside of the Home Depot. By November it was bubbling, cracking and peeling where our cars sat. Called Behr and they said they would send some more product over when the weather was warm. To their credit they did however, when i went to clean the floor and re apply this past weekend I realized that none of the product ever bonded and I was peeling it up in sheets and my garage floor is now sitting in three large garbage bags. I've asked for a refund and they won't supply one. This was a very time consuming and expensive project. Save yourself a lot of time and money and don't buy it. Also, if you want to clean it forget it, a pressure washer wouldn't get any of the staining up, not good in a garage! Attached are two photos, one of right before I was going to re apply and one after I realized it would peel up like a sticker

Talked through the process with the employee. Applied the product. Didn't look right. Kept putting on more product. Doesn't look anything like the example. Doesn't cover. Sand looks very sporadic, and uneven. The color is more of a hue and even applied extremely thick and with multiple layers by hand, doesn't look like photo. Went back in and showed photos of the results. The suggestion I got was to strip it with a rented piece of equipment, sand it down, etc. So I've spent hours with a pressure washer trying to remove the $50 gallon of Granite Grip. If you add the cost, the wasted time and the effort I can honestly report it's the worst purchase I've ever made at Home Depot.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Liked at first but didn’t last! I applied this last spring so it had time to completely dry before winter. We were very pleased with the finished product except for the cost of additional unanticipated applications. Now spring is here and some areas have peeled up in large sections. I refuse to put this product back down just so I can peel it up again in six months. Great product, if it had only lasted more than a year. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]
