This latest formula utilizes an advanced 100% acrylic resin to create a durable and breathable waterproof coating for your tired and worn out deck while rejuvenating its look. Can this be used on my painted / peeling deck? And in winter with this being textured ,can I use my aluminum snow shovel on it without it doing damage to the surface?
Hi Kari, thanks for the question. Yes, our Advanced Deckover can be used on your previously painted deck that is peeling. Any loose coating needs to be removed before applying the new coating. You can use an Aluminum shovel over the coating, but use caution, as it could dig into it. Another option is to use a plastic shovel. I plan to use behr deckover on my dock boards that were last coated 3 years ago with behr solid stain and sealer. If I do a light sand will I have to also pressure wash the boards?
Hi Rich, thank you for your question. Our Behr DeckOver can be used over an existing coating that is in good, sound condition. Before applying the coating, we do recommend that the surface be cleaned with our Behr All-In-One Wood Cleaner No. 063 (this will help with adhesion). If powerwashing it off, ensure it is at a light setting, and you give it additional dry time before coating (2-3 days). Does this product work on house boat decks
Hi Sweetspainting, thanks for reaching out with your question. As it turns out, we don't recommend applying our coatings to your houseboat deck. Our coatings are not designed to be submerged or have constant water contact, as it can cause the coating to break down and not perform as expected. Hi, can it conceal concrete patching non-uniformities? I applied beHR 1-part-eppxy but those patches are still clearly visible. If this product can conceal it, can it be used on top of 1-part-eppxy paint that I applied very recently?
Hi Maks, thank you for your question. Yes, the DeckOver can be used over the 1-Part Epoxy as long as it is sound, clean, and dry. You'll also want to scuff sand the surface if glossy to promote adhesion. It will be easier for the textured coating to hide the patches, but it might not look completely even.
