BEHR ULTRA Ceiling Flat
Non-reflective finish that hides minor surface imperfections
BEHR ULTRA SCUFF DEFENSE Stain-Blocking Paint and Primer* is an interior paint that's too tough to scuff and sets a new standard for flat paint durability. BEHR ULTRA SCUFF DEFENSE features breakthrough innovation to deliver a rich flat finish that is truly durable enough for high-traffic areas. This low-reflective flat finish is easy to clean, touches up well and hides minor surface imperfections. Don't settle or compromise between the flat look you desire and higher level of durability you require. *A PRIMER COAT MAY BE NEEDED ON SOME SURFACES. SEE BACK LABEL FOR DETAILS.
Ideal for busy high traffic areas, family rooms, dining rooms, bedrooms and ceilings
Available in an EXTRA DURABLE FLAT SHEEN which provides a beautiful non-reflective appearance along with excellent touch-ups
Excellent hide; 1 gallon covers up to 400 sq. ft. depending on application, color and surface porosity
For best application, use a high quality 3/8 in. - 1/2 in. nap roller cover, nylon/polyester brush or airless sprayer (0.015 in. - 0.019 in. spray tip, 60 mesh filter)
Use BEHR ULTRA SCUFF DEFENSE Paint as a primer for properly prepared uncoated or painted interior surfaces, including woods that contain tannins (2 primer coats required for redwood and cedar) and heavily stained areas
Lock in stains with BEHR ULTRA SCUFF DEFENSE Paint as a spot primer, for heavy stains, test for stain bleed-through by applying BEHR ULTRA SCUFF DEFENSE Paint to a small section, if stain bleeds through, spot prime another coat to the stained area and test again before top coating, if bleeding continues, a longer dry time is needed before top coating
Apply when air and surface temperatures are between 50°F-90°F (10°C-32°C), darker colors may require additional dry time between coats, cooler temperatures or higher humidity may prolong drying time
The true benefit is a flat finish appearance with scuff resistance of a gloss, a combination not typical in traditional flat paints
Advanced scuff and mar resistance helps protect wall surfaces in busy households. Do not use on floors.
Exceptional burnish resistance provides an easy-clean finish for long lasting beauty
Needed to do some emergency (pre-winter) painting on the north side of the house. Pine porch pillars and wood slat siding and some trim work. It covers bare wood and old paint of a similar color well. I had to paint in a bit colder weather than I would have preferred (40-50 degrees F). It covered well and I had no problem hiding the brush strokes. It cured overnight. I took care not to paint deep into the afternoon so as to prevent "dew fogging". It had skinned up prior to evening dew. Shortly after the paint dried, it got very cold and so far, the paint seems to hold up well. I plan to use this product to run down the entire house this spring. Very happy with it. It stays mixed overnight and very easy to control on the the brush. One of the best paints I've used. Only Four Stars as I haven't had it on more than a few months now. Let's see how it goes this spring.

VERY DISAPPOINTED FOR THE PRICE PAID IN THE PAINT, BEHR SUPPORT, AND HD...
I am very disappointed in this paint for the price paid. 2 years ago I spent over a thousand dollars painting my new garage with this paint. A year later the sunny side had completely faded to gray and the bottom edge had completely worn away due to the rain hitting it. I contacted BEHR about their "guarantee". They said I had to show proof of my original purchase by either receipts or the old cans, and then buy another round of the same paint and send in those receipts as well as pictures of the failed paint. Then, after review, they would reimburse me. Luckily, I keep everything and still had both the old receipts and old cans that most people would have thrown away a year later. So after repainting the garage I also spent close to another thousand dollars painting the house with the same color. This year I installed an air conditioning system and bought some more of the same paint to paint the a/c ducts. I had brought one of the old cans to HD to get the new paint mixed up and it turned out to be a much lighter shade than what was on the house. I brought it back to HD to check if the paint guy had used an incorrect formula and the paint lady insisted that the formula was correct. She offered no explanation of why the color of the new paint was definitely off, refused to mix me up a new gallon, nor offered me any type of refund/credit. At nearly 50 bucks a gallon for this paint including tax and the ubiquitous "pant recycling fee" (which is ridiculous because they won't take the old cans back), I would expect better performance and much better customer support from HD and the BEHR company. I'm using Benjamin Moore next time.

Horrible paint for large flat ceilings
I have been painting for 30 years as a remodeling contractor and an owner of multiple rental properties that I maintain myself. I have used Behr before with some good success. However, within the last 2-3 years I’ve noticed poor qualities with Behr. I was in a jam and had to use Behr paint from HD. I ordered 2 gallons of Behr Ultra in Eggshell sheen tinted to an off white color of Polar Bear. The paint hid well, but you could see every single roller mark! I used it on a 10x12 textured orange peel ceiling and worked satisfactory. However, when I used it to paint a pre-primed 20x30 flat sand texture ceiling in a living room, it failed miserably!!!! After 4 coats I gave up and reprimed used Sherwin williams. Im never buying this paint again. I’ll spend my money elsewhere and get the job done right the first time.

Hello LazyS, Thanks for reviewing the Eggshell Enamel Interior Paint and Primer in One. I’m sorry to hear you had roller marks on your ceiling project. That can be disappointing, and it’s not the experience we want any of our customers to have. To fix, I recommend applying a flat sheen while maintaining a wet edge and avoiding pressure on the roller. For further assistance, please feel free to reach out directly to our customer care team. Best, Roxana N.

I didn't have any trouble with coverage. I bought four gallons and only used two and half to do the whole top portion of my home. I went from a light color to a dark color. Didn't give five stars because I can't rate on fading or dirt resistance since it's only been a few days. Time will tell but right now I am very pleased with this product and would recommend this to anyone that plans to paint their home.

not good coverage
It is taking 3 coats to get good coverage over kitchen cabinets that were already painted with a latex off white paint. Cabinets were cleaned before painting but the paint separates and puddles no matter how thin or thick you brush or roll it on. It is extremely thick but does not cover well due to the puddles and separation on the surface.

Hi TomC, thank you for writing in. I'm so sorry to hear our Ultra Interior Paint puddled and separated on the surface. This is not all the experience we want our customers to have with our products. Please reach out to us directly so we can learn more about your project and assist. We look forward to hearing from you. -Michael

The Behr paint seems to be very good so far. I like the look of the finished paint job. We had two coats of exterior Behr paint applied.
