BEHR ULTRA SCUFF DEFENSE Stain-Blocking Paint and Primer* is an interior paint that's too tough to scuff and sets a new standard for paint durability. BEHR ULTRA SCUFF DEFENSE features breakthrough innovation to deliver a rich finish that is truly durable enough for high-traffic areas. This lush, versatile sheen creates a pearl-like appearance that's ideal for the walls but also for trim, doors, cabinets and indoor furniture. Don't settle or compromise between the look you desire and higher level of durability you require. *A PRIMER COAT MAY BE NEEDED ON SOME SURFACES. SEE BACK LABEL FOR DETAILS.
  • Ideal for busy high traffic areas, family rooms, living rooms, dining rooms, bedrooms, kids’ rooms, hallways, kitchens, bathrooms, doors, windows, trim, cabinets, shutters and interior furniture
  • Satin finish offers a pearl-like appearance
  • Excellent hide; 1 quart covers up to 100 sq. ft. depending on application, color and surface porosity
  • For best application, use a high quality 3/8 in. - 1/2 in. nap roller cover, nylon/polyester brush or airless sprayer (0.015 in. - 0.019 in. spray tip, 60 mesh filter)
  • Use BEHR ULTRA SCUFF DEFENSE Paint as a primer for properly prepared uncoated or painted interior surfaces, including woods that contain tannins (2 primer coats required for redwood and cedar) and heavily stained areas
  • Lock in stains with BEHR ULTRA SCUFF DEFENSE Paint as a spot primer, for heavy stains, test for stain bleed-through by applying BEHR ULTRA SCUFF DEFENSE Paint to a small section, if stain bleeds through, spot prime another coat to the stained area and test again before top coating, if bleeding continues, a longer dry time is needed before top coating
  • Apply when air and surface temperatures are between 50°F-90°F (10°C-32°C), darker colors may require additional dry time between coats, cooler temperatures or higher humidity may prolong drying time

Great Paint!

    Reformulated?
    [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have been using Behr paint for 20 plus years. I've always select the ultra scuff defense and had great luck. Minimal drip, great coverage. I just bought 2 gallons to repaint my living room and was extremely disappointed. The paint is requiring a second coat to cover a similar shade color and primer spots, it was brushing on streaky. I don't know if they had to get a new supplier due to the rea material shortage, but it's definitely not the same paint I've used for years

    Hello, thank you for your review. I'm sorry to hear about the streaky finish. I can understand your disappointment! Our Ultra Paint has not had formula changes, and will typically cover in two coats. The first coat is the primer coat and additional coats will build up the finish.       The best, by far
      [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Duh, Behr is by far the best paint out there. Consumer Reports did an exhaustive study on the available brands and Behr consistently comes in at the top…Ultra is my go to, but Marquis and Dynasty are fantastic pains as well, but a little more pricey. If it’s a rental, use the cheapest you can find, if it’s your home…use the best…Behr.

        Does the job!

          Amazing color and coverage
          [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We remodeled two bathrooms in 2022 and painted the living room (including a porous red brick fireplace in Mission White in 2 coats and no primer base, just Behr paint). I was able to color match my tub cabinet front and custom cabinet to the vanity blue using the ap and even the sheen is dead on. Not an easy task.

            Very durable!
            [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I’m so impressed with how well this product protects against scuffing, and how easily it cleans up! I used it to paint the shiplap WHITE on a kitchen island where kiddos with dirty shoes sit on a daily basis. There has been only one scuff in 6 months, and it literally wiped off with a paper towel! Highly recommend for high traffic areas!

              Great paint

                    Never looking back
