Q:In the video it states that you should use wood blocks to support longer pieces of wood. I need to know what is the thickness of the clamp body is so I can purchase some wood to use as supports.

Answer This Question

A:  I had some scrap wood approximately 1” x 3” any length just to support your work. Nothing really structural, just enough to keep your work from sagging and putting strain on your glued/nailed or screwed joint. Hope this helps.

A:  The base is 1-1/4" thick. Hope this helps.

A:  I used 2X4’s and cut a dato 3/4” wide and deep for the plywood I was using.  The length depends on what you’re making. Saved them to use again.  They optionally need to be able to hold up what you’re clamping.

Q:Will this work if the 2 pieces are different sizes? For example a 2x4 (1-1/2") with a 1/2" board?

A:  I have no idea. It did not state on the item. However, the quality of Bessey WS-3+2K is better than IRWIN Quick-grip 90 (226410).

A:  Unfortunately the response from the manufacturer didn't answer my question. I suspect intentionally. I went to the store and all of their tools I looked at were made in China

This clamp gives me the extra set of hands I needed. It makes holding the boards together very easy to screw. The quality is very good. Feels heavy duty and sturdy. The only thing I would like different is the vise that hold the clamp to the table are not attached to the clamp, so it’s easy to lose them and they move around when readjusting. But I like it and it gets the job done.

I purchased this item in order to frame out some boxes to wrap around a pergola. Using this tool made it easier to have the corners meet and secure them. It was like having another pair of hands.

Purchased this from home depot about 8 months ago. It's not something that I used very often. When I did use it, the product performed great. After a while the handle on it started to slip until eventually it didn't grip to be able to turn the tightening shaft. The handle is plastic with a kind of splined socket that fits on to the tightening shaft which is metal. Over time the plastic wears away and is not able to stay affixed to the shaft. In my opinion that is a design flaw. The handle and shaft should be one solid piece. Make the handle with a gripping surface. It cost more to buy but it would be worth it for a product that last. Or maybe that's the objective. To have it be able to break so you'd have to buy a new one? Problem is I won't. I'd try something different and then write about it on home depot's web page.

                  Very helpful corner clamp.
Worked for me exactly as advertised. Very helpful in connecting corners exactly. I think the price is very reasonable for such a useful and well made product. I was able to hold the corners in a perfectly aligned position and connect them much more easily than by hand.

                  Perfect
I was trying to finish a project last night and realized I needed an angle clamp. I thought for sure I would have to order online, somewhere. Thankfully my local HD had these in stock. I was a custom framer for a few years and we had clamps that had to be installed on a table before they could be used. I like the fact that this angle clamp has clamps because my worktable is collapsable. Plus, the clamp concept allows you the ability to travel with it, if needed. The clamps definitely keep the angle in place. And the angle is definitely something that will last a long time!

cheap paint flaking off brand new clamps
I bought 4 of these clamps to build picture frames and as soon as I had them out of the packaging, I noticed the paint was already flaking off. See photo. Beware, these aren't plastic coated, it's just cheap paint. I wrote Bessey and didn't get any response; I am sorry I wasted $80 on them.

It's nice having the extra hand.
I've been working on some small cabinet doors and this angle clamp was perfect it made light work of the project and the small door frames are perfect. I want to try a few custom picture frames next. A great tool for the home workshop. Its great that it can easily be mounted to my work bench or used unattached.
