Birds LOVE it!
It took a little coaxing but they are loving it now. No more feeding pesky invasive House Sparrows or Starlings. Hurray!

    Blackbirds love it.
The title of this review says all that needs to be said. Blackbirds have no trouble hanging upside down to feed. I’ve had a few woodpeckers, but evidently mine are lazy. May wait a little while before re-hanging the original suet feeder. In my humble opinion, this feeder is not worth the price.

      NOT BIRDS CHOICE
The birds didn't like it, however, it did not keep the grackles away. They learned how to use it in about 10 minutes.

Love it and the birds love it! Also love the fact that it's recycled plastic.

The downy woodpecker learned how to use the upside-down suet...
The downy woodpecker learned how to use the upside-down suet feeder within a few hours. The larger woodpeckers (e.g., red-bellied) learned by watching the downy woodpeckers. Red-bellied woodpeckers like to land on a nearby mesh sunflower seed feeder before grappling the upside-down feeder. With suet hard to obtain, and sunflower seed too rich for their diet, the unwanted starlings, catbirds and grackles eventually give up on your feeder station and go away. Starlings going away is especially good since they take over woodpecker holes, leaving less habitat for woodpeckers.

      NOT starling proof
I purchased 2 of these in hopes to keep starlings from eating all the suet cakes. After the second day of hanging,, those darned Starlings are as aggressive as ever,, hanging upside down feasting on the suet cakes.

        Starlings are foiled!
Excellent suet feeder that has discouraged blackbirds, starlings and crows, but has kept the woodpeckers happy. Love this feeder!
