                poor mesh filter design
                The tab on the mesh filter has broken twice (on 2 different filters!) Needs to be redesigned to be more sturdy!

                  I replaced another single-serve coffee machine with this one. My old machine didn't have an included mug and it always splattered coffee all over my counter and floor every time I used it. This one makes no mess and as an added bonus the included mug is actually pretty good. My old machine had two filter baskets, one inside the other. This unit only has a single filter basket but it's a much finer mesh and I haven't had any grounds leak through it. On the downside, the wet grounds do stick to it and I end up having to rinse some of them down the sink instead of just tapping all the grounds out in the trash. Plus the filter assembly only goes together one way so there's a bit of a learning curve. These are minor nit-picks though. I'll give it 5 stars for single-serve coffee with no expensive pods and no mess.

                    B&D Single Serve leaves a bitter taste in mouth
                    Even after cleaning twice with vinegar and twice with clear water the plastic smell is still there. The mug temperature on the OUTSIDE was 45c so be careful when you pick it up. After the first try I discovered I needed twice the amount of coffee grounds to get the same taste as a plain pour over. Also, the acrid, plastic taste is still very noticeable in the coffee. I hope this will stop.

                      Bring back the perfect DCM 18!
                      I'll cut right to the chase: this one leaves a lot to be desired. The DCM 18 had it right; left very little water in the receptacle (after brewing); didn't have to "snap" the lid into place (all you had to do was set it down); and finally, you didn't have to be overly cautious that you might spill the water when pouring (as there is plenty of room in the DCM 18). Please bring back the DCM 18, or re-engineer the newer design. Thank you.

                          Disappointing
                          The description says it can be used with pods. Manufacturers of coffee capsules (coffee in a small plastic cup with a foil lid) call them pods. This coffee maker uses soft pods, which are like tea bags. That is not explained nor pictured in the description. I bought something that I cannot use in the way I intended.
