About This Product

Beautiful chartreuse-green foliage in a dense, compact form makes this new box honeysuckle an excellent choice for many landscape applications. You can plant it as a hedge and trim it into a classic box form or use it as a cascading feature in a mixed garden bed. Makes for a great boxwood hedge replacement. Tolerates full shade but will perform best in part sun conditions. Thunderbolt is a colorful improvement on a landscaper classic. Pollinator-friendly and deer resistant. Variety botanical name: Lonicera nitida 'Golden Glow' USPP#26598.

Questions & Answers

1Question
caret
Q:Thunderbolt is turning light yellow. Many have been planting in surrounding area that don't have the yellowing. What could be the problem? We are in Southern British Columbia Canada on the Washington border.

Answer This Question

A:  Dear Denise, thank you for your question. Thunderbolt appears more yellow in sunny locations and darker and more green with less direct sunlight. This is likely the reason for what you're experiencing with your plant. This is typical for Thunderbolt Honeysuckle.

    Plants are doing well
Two Bloomin’ Easy Thunderbolt Box Honeysuckle shrubs arrived on 8/11/22 and were planted quickly. Plants were healthy and packaged well. I’ve ordered other Bloomin’ Easy plants from Home Depot and the shipping is fast and arrived earlier than stated. It was hot/dry in August, but the plants have done well. They may be smaller than what you would buy at a local nursery, but I anticipated that would be the case with shipping. Overall, love this company and their plants. Would recommend.

I was surprised that this came in such good condition....
I was surprised that this came in such good condition. I attribute this to packing with care and making sure the plant was hydrated before shipping. I deducted one star because althought his was a 2 gall plant it was on the small side, like an overgrown 1 gallon. The price was pretty expensive, but I needed this to match existing plants and none have been available locally for months.

Thank you for taking the time to share you experience with us. Your Thunderbold Honeysuckly plant was grown in Michigan and is currently in its dormancy stage. Dormancy allows your plant to strengthen its base to support the rest of the plant during its growing season. During this stage, your plant may lack leaves or have leaves that are dry, curled, or twisted. It may appear dried out. If it has leaves, they may be shades of yellow, orange, or brown while in the dormancy stage or if it is transitioning to its dormancy stage. Expect your plant to take several weeks to grow out of its dormancy stage. If you have additional questions, please let us know at (269)468-6714 or at sales@degroot-inc.com. Thank you, DeGroot.
