A:  The product is made to use with hole saws and not drill bits alone.

Q:Hi, is this dust bowl blue or clear? Because I need to be able to see my saw cut against the ceiling.

    Answer This Question

A:  Hi Greg, I had the same concern, it’s actually clear. I purchased 2 of these as I was installing well over 30 can lights. They worked perfectly, and yes you can see through these to align your hole saw.

Q:Is it "squishable" - as in: does it deform against whatever surface you are making a hole in as the hole gets deeper?

        Answer This Question

A:  My recommendation: After installing the hole saw on the mandrel, run its arbor shaft through the hole in the dust bowl, and through a half inch washer before inserting the arbor shaft in your cordless screw driver. Leave room between the cordless driver, washer and dust bowl - so that they are not tightly against each other. I went up on a ladder, held the dust bowl against the soffit/ceiling, pressed up on the bowl till the pilot bit engaged the center of the hole I wanted to drill and pulled the trigger.

A:  Press the flexible rubber dust bowl to surface and compress until hole saw hits surface. Drill your hole all dust is captured in bowl

Drilled about thirty four inch holes into a drywall ceiling to install recessed lights and no dust escaped…except when I got distracted after drilling and let my arm down before emptying. You can barely see through it, so its a little hard… but possible… to find your mark to start drilling. But a terrific tool.

Had to cut-in several 6" ceiling holes for new light installation. Decided to invest in the Blue Mol Dust Bowl. Glad I did! Hardly any sheetrock dust on the floor and little to no floating particles. Place drill bit hole saw inside bowl and then attach to drill. Press bowl to ceiling and drill. Dust falls into bowl, not all over your floor.
