A:  Yes with the right fittings it should connect to most plumbing lines

A:  There are so many different types and sizes of metal pipes that I can't be sure if it will work with yours. That being said, you should be able to find the right adapter to get from whatever your pipe is to whatever the faucet has. The specs on the faucet should tell you what size the inlets are (typically 1/2 inch standard threads, but I can't remember if it was male or female threads), and if you take that info along with what is existing in your house to a hardware store, they should be able to get you set up. I don't recall the thickness of the riser pipe (mine was installed in a rental so I can't check), but I think it was 3/8 inch or 1/2 inch outside diameter.

        Faucet works, looks fine.
One thing that might help users/installers of the faucet is a hardware item called " Bathcock Ell" .It took me a while to discover it's existence. A link to the faucet on your (Home Depot's) part would help, you sell these in selected(?) stores. The Bathcock Ell does two very useful things: 1) Allows supply lines to connect vertically (tucked in close to tub). 2) Allows supply line to be FIP 1/2 inch (female 1/2 inch pipe) such as typical stainless flex supply lines. The clawfoot tub faucet is 3/4 inch MIP (male pipe, non- tapered thread) for compression style connection. The bathcock ell is designed to connect exactly to this.

It was difficult to find a decently built faucet for my old clawfoot tub. Finally I just decided to bite the bullet and spend more on something nice. It's very heavy so no plastic, or at least not the main components. Easy to install and looks fantastic.

The whole assembly went together fine, I added a extension to the riser and added a new waterpik shower head and I have the seedy hotel shower upgraded to the bellagio.

Yeah so first of all, buy a different shower head. This is a pretty ornate clawfoot tub shower conversion, but the showerhead it comes with is complete garbage. Straight into the bin. BUT - it also uses a weird size! I needed to buy a brass fitting to increase the shower riser pipe on this (which is 3/8") up to 1/2" - so that the new shower head will fit.1/2" is standard, you won't find a showerhead with a 3/8" coupling. So that's just bizarre. Others complain about the connection (do be careful, its actually quite easy to install upside down when the riser is not attached) of the riser, because the pipe is threaded. That is merely to help affix the rubber boot that creates the pressure seal. It actually works fine and you wouldn't want threads because you know darn well that you'd end up with the shower pointing the wrong way. A bit quirky, but by far the cheapest option we could find. Just build enough money into the project to buy a nice shower head because this is one is worthless plastic junk .
