We live in Minnesota and I have a gallon or 2 left at the end of the season depending on weather and have used the left over to start the next winter with with no problems it always works great.

I have been using it for better than 10 years and have a dog. We have a concrete wheelchair ramp and use most of it there. The dog and the rest of us walk on it and she has no problems with it on her feet. I like it because I am not tracking salt into the house. If I was not having good results with it I would not keep buying it. I buy 5 gallons at a time as we get a lot of cold and snow in Central NY.

Can you use a water nozzle to apply

Asked by Perk January 12, 2020

You could, but I’m not sure of the way you would do it. The liquid is relatively thin, but it will eventually clog. My “Hudson” sprayer had to be cleaned a couple of times during application.

Can you spray it with a water nozzle with a quick connect

What about storage? Will it last more than one season?

Anyone use this for deicing or keeping ice from freezing up sump drainage pipe(3")?

I’ve never used it for a sump drainage pipe, if your pipe is smooth in the inside and the pitch is right it shouldn’t freeze. I have a 4 inch sump discharge pipe, smooth in side and it has never frozen up. I use the Bare Ground for outside stairs and paths ways and driveway , even my gutters downspouts and it works great, I wouldn’t be with out it in the winter, great product.

can this product kill grass if accidently spilled?

It has not killed any grass when being applied

Awesome!
This stuff works great so far! Light snows melt, no ice left behind and the ground is snow and ice free after the plow guy comes through on heavier snows. I use a hand sprayer and it lets out a fine stream- takes about 5 min. In a zig zag approach to cover a three car driveway (one car width wide). It looks like the amount laid is skimpy but it settles in and spreads slightly.

not as good as described
in the description it states you can apply it before during and after if doing it before it would help you with the Snowfall by up to 2 in we had some sprayed on our deck quarter inch of snow and it was buried does not work as well as they described it might work for ice but it does not help with the snow snow will still cover it up would not recommend buying for the price they're selling it for also upon trying to submit this rating it will not allow me the click the button that says not recommended it automatically says you recommend it

Liquid Deicer Bear Ground
I started using the liquid deicer as both a preventive method, as you can spray it prior to snow or ice to prevent its accumulation. It also is animal, dog paw, friendly. I have used this product for the last two years. It can be sprayed with a standard garden sprayer. It can also be sprayed onto rubber, so as to spray under a cars tire to melt ice and assist traction with a stuck vehicle. it has limitations of such that it will only break down about two inches thick of ice if sprayed heavily, must salt is just about the same. You can store this product easily and it may suit individual needs better than salt. Just my opinion.

We have used bare ground liquid deicer for several years. We spray cement steps and walk ways before we are expecting freezing rain or snow. It makes it easier to shovel off the cement and makes the cement clear faster. I can usually get 2 winters out of the 5 gallons, depending on the weather. I absolutely hate the ice but love bare ground.

Applied product liberally before 6-8 inch storm. While it did seem to leave a residue that made the removal easier, it did not seem to do anything for “melting”. The product slides show “treated” areas vs non-treated and will show less accumulation on areas where the product was applied. Did not see that happening. If there were an ice storm coming, I would definitely try using this to see if it indeed prevented adhesion to concrete. Even if it worked on ice, it is an extremely expensive option.
