Safe? Yes. Appropriate? It's only 3 5" deep. Unless you are using multiple rows, that's awfully shallow

That's. 0.5" wood. It's gonna flex big time. This isn't the best grade of lumber. The fasteners on the ends are gonna crack unless you have about 1" edge distance.

Beautiful pieces of lumber...nice grain/knot variation. I actually used these as visible, finishing pieces of lumber on a twin bed I built. NOTE:. Very disappointed with "curbside pickup"...they seem to give me the junkiest, worst pieces of lumber available every time. I would suggest going into the store and selecting your own lumber.
