          A great first-time building project
I just finished building this kit. I still have work to do on it beyond the kit, but I'm already delighted with it. Building the kit took me a couple of months of intermittent part-time work, with major help from friends on the two days of raising the walls and putting on the roof sheathing. My wife regularly helped, especially on the roof. Some of that time was for things beyond the kit itself, like fixing up the pad on which it went, installing windows, and shingling the roof. A focused team of people could have done this in a few days. I ordered it with the floor kit. The floor kit was great, and a great deal, but added some complications. The main body of the kit arrived a week and a half before the floor kit arrived, and Home Depot had no explanation. It's a little tricky, because HD sends your order to the Best Barns/Reynolds folks. They then order you the floor kit parts from HD, for local delivery, and get the rest of the kit to you by tractor trailer. You can't track the floor kit order without calling (or emailing) Reynolds, since they're the ones who ordered it. It all showed up, just in a different order than I would have guessed. (They did send an email explaining the separate deliveries when they shipped the order.) Delivery of the main kit is on a tractor trailer, liftgate delivery to the entrance of your driveway. There's a wrapped box with the longer wooden parts, and two pallets. I broke down the pallets and carried everything up the driveway. Keep everything, as parts of the pallets get used in the building. (The floor kit arrived from HD on a truck with a forklift, so they got that one further in.) Since I was waiting, I painted the siding and trim ahead of time. That made it a lot easier to deal with issues like rain, though I have some touch-up to do now. I didn't - and should have - make an inventory of everything that came. The back page lists the parts, and there were some extras and some pieces mostly used as packing material. (That I painted. Oh well.) The floor kit involved more cutting than the rest of the kit, but the directions were clear and everything went together smoothly. The directions for setting up stop blocks on the shed floor to assemble the trusses and gables made everything much much easier. It all came out the same, which was exactly the idea. I didn't read all of the directions closely enough, and used common nails on the outside gables and galvanized on the inside trusses. Be smarter than me. The directions get less precise about things like which nails to use as you go along. I don't know if they figure that you'll have learned more along the way, but apparently I forgot it over time. Maybe more important, the directions describe how, for example, the walls are attached to each other, but not how you put them up. There is a YouTube video of a guy assembling a similar shed kit by himself with a block and tackle under a tree, but you'll probably need a few people and some planning. Four people made it easy, but two or three probably would have worked. If you're surrounded by flat stable terrain, the two 8' stepladders they suggest are probably enough. If not, you'll want something more and someone to hold it. The steep sides of the awesome gable roof definitely need a stable ladder while you put on shingles. The top was a lot easier, but you should look into a fall protection kit for when you're on top. Because the directions recommended it, I went with asphalt shingles and was happy to watch them bend neatly to match the gable over a few hours. Overall, I'm delighted with the kit. The materials were solid and straight, the directions clear, and the design well-considered. The lofts are awesome! You don't have to be a master carpenter with a lot of tools to make this work.

Delivery is curb side and will not be dropped in your backyard. Assembly is difficult and time consuming if you are not a master carpenter. Need extra help to assemble. Otherwise fair.

This kit has met all expectations! Straightforward to put together, almost every piece is precut and ready to go. Very efficient, even used part of the pallet for pieces of the shed! It’s size is perfect for us. Keep in mind that you’ll need to purchase shingles separately which is additional cost.

              Great size for the price
Loved that almost everything was cut to size. We did get the floor addition. Went up in 2 days with the help of a general contractor. Still need to paint and put up doors. Very happy with all but 2 damaged boards from delivery that we had to use.

Good lumber, better than expected. Good hardware. Read the directions CAREFULLY all the way thru at least twice to choreograph what needs to happen when. Unpack and sort EVERYTHING by size and shape so you don't use something somewhere you shouldn't. The optional windows are a very good deal!! The octagonal window not so much. Two guys with construction knowledge could build it in a long weekend. Took me a couple of weeks alone. Very satisfied. Also great customer service from Best Barns.
