The product is of no use. The handle broke just after using it for a couple of times. I bought this product in Nov. 2019 and I wrote this review on Sep. 4th, 2020. So, the product was still under warranty. I have been trying to reach the support center / warranty department of this company via phone calls and emails and no luck. The quality of the product and the support team is just so awful. If you want to avoid wasting your money and time, just simply stay away from this product and this company.,

First off this is a review of the Torin Big Red Farm Jack, not Home Depot. Home Depot was great about issuing a refund of the returned jacks. The only two problems I had with the jacks were that one broke at the handle socket. Fortunately it cracked and didn't give way completely sparing me from injury. It's the risk of injury that caused me to return both jacks, the broken one and the functional one. The other issue is that there is no way these jacks will safely lift the rated weight of 3 tons. I did contact Torin and they offered to send me a replacement part, however I was no longer comfortable with the safety of these jacks. The reason I gave two stars instead of one is that maybe this is a fluke and not common, the Torin rep would not speak to whether this is common or not. As far as functionality before it cracked it worked as good or better than other farm jacks I have used and still use. I am attaching images of both sides showing the crack. The spring clip around the handle socket is only to hold the handle in the upright position. It will not hole the socket together.

I purchased this jack to pull shrub, bush, and small tree stumps out of the ground (google "farm jack stump removal"). It worked flawlessly, really exceeded expectations. It's so powerful! For this (rather unorthodox) application

I LOVE BIG RED.
My 25 year old float is still in good shape but the fastenings holding the skids in place fell victim to salt water salt water. One of the 2x6's came off completely last fall and the piece under it was partially dislodged. So I needed to lift the side about 16 inches to replace the fastenings, enough for the length of the fastenings and the Makita impact driver. Our location is remote so a crane lift from the water side would be pretty expensive. Big Red to the rescue. As you can see from the photo the wintering cove is part rock and part soft marine clay. I put a board under red and jacked the board about a foot down before picking up the load. The jacking effort was easy and when I had it high enough I blocked the ends a couple of feet back from the work side and refastened the timber. Then, as I started jacking the thing down I realized that a photo might be nice. Then I went around the other side and did the same thing all on the same tide. This jack is heavy duty and awesome.

Mixed review on this item. First, it was listed on THE HD website as 3.5 tons, while it's only 3.0 tons. I got HD to change it there.
The first one I got wouldn't even stand up by itself. If I let go to pump the handle, it would tip over left or right every time -- very dangerous with something this heavy. The slot in the base for the standard is WAY too loose and allows the standard to wobble and lean. The standard is connected only by a single, central pin. Also, it wouldn't jack up from the bottom when pumped; the climbing pin wouldn't engage the holes in the 5 ft. standard. I had to lift the whole jacking unit half way up the standard before it clicked in. After 3 weeks of calls/emails to Torin, I finally got to someone who told me that the unit was indeed defective. I returned it to HD (kudos to HD for a smooth and quick return/reorder!) . The new one jacks up and down fine, but still leans a bit, not enough to tip over, though. I've attached the whole unit to a 12"x12"x1 1/2" thick MDF base with (6) 1/4x20 hex bolts, compression washers and nuts. It will NOT tip over again (see photo).
All in all, it jacks well and is very sturdy. But, its somewhat unstable nature combined with its weight is of concern. Watch it every second.
WARNING: When jacking down, once the load weight is taken off, the whole jacking unit, complete with the handle, will suddenly drop all the way down to the floor unexpectedly!! That's a LOT of weight dropping suddenly. The owner's manual notes this fact but does NOT highlight it.
BE AWARE!!!
3 STARS for a super sturdy, strong and useful farm jack with some instability and poor Torin customer service.
